"I was sent for a consultation with Dr. Gentry after I broke a crown from a tooth in December. My insurance company would not pay for the work that my dentist recommended, and would only pay for another treatment plan. I went through an entire appeal process fighting my insurance company for months, to try to get them to pay for the treatment that my dentist recommended, But in the end, I was forced to go with an alternate treatment. I went back to Dr. Gentry to begin the treatment plan that my insurance would cover, and after an hour and a half wait in his waiting room, he spent about seven minutes with me, to tell me that he would not touch my mouth until he consulted with my dentist to see what “he wanted to do”. Perhaps it could have been worded better. But at the end of the day, it is not up to my dentist on the treatment that I choose as a patient to have done in my mouth. It is up to me, the patient; and what I can afford, what my insurance will cover, and what I decide is best for me. I know that my dentist has the very best in mind for me, but if I can’t afford the out-of-pocket for the expenses on what he deems as the very best treatment, then it is what it is. And he can recommend that treatment all day long, but in the end it comes down to what I can afford. I explained this to Dr. Gentry at my original consultation, and thought we had come to an understanding, but apparently not. My biggest reasoning for not recommending this dentist under any circumstances, comes down to his staff. The lady working the front desk is one of the most rudest medical receptionists that I have ever dealt with. Every single time I call, she will interrupt me mid sentence and ask me to hold. She will place me on hold for several minutes, get back on the phone, and the minute I start speaking again, she will place me on hold again. When I ask her a question, she responds in a very condescending way. I worked as a medical receptionist for years in both a physicians office and a dental office. A polite attitude can go along way. My time is valuable as well. They may not care about losing my business, but I’m going to make sure that I let everyone I know, not to utilize their services. The attitudes of Dr. Gentry and his front desk are completely uncalled for."
"I have had quite a bit of work done at his office. Always very professional and his staff is very accommodating. Dr. Gentry actually called me one night after previously removing a wisdom tooth to check on me and make sure I was doing okay. He has done a lot of other dental work for me and I highly recommend him to anyone who needs dental work done. Great guy with a great staff and I think the world of him and all his people."
