"Menu changed, quality changed, quantity changed, less steak and still little cheese. Employees are all depressed. No positive vibes. Very disappointing. And now they are adding a tip/convenience charge….and, without asking to charge the credit card. Not the same as when it first opened. BTW those pics are pre COVID. I remember those days. Update: Will they ever stop making us wear a mask into the place? So stupid. Wear a mask in the front door/take it off when you sit down. Woke liberal mask virtue signaling run amuck. News flash…THE STATE MANDATES ENDED…but they continue inside the world of Rick’s…ridiculous! ***Retryed today (Oct 10, 2023) and...no change. Even got lectured by the cashier with all those piercings on her face (nose, lips, etc.). Really disappointing experience. Hardly any meat. Ordered a large...got a large roll and small meat (approx. 3-5oz maybe). Too bad...all they have to do is add an ounce or two of meat and it would work. Just trying to skimp too much. For a $14.00 sub, it's really disappointing. Looks like more when you first get it, but after one bite there is hardly any afterwards. Half of a half had no steak or cheese. See the pic. Just a tricky allusion to skimp on the steak."

"I have past by many times and today I wanted a cheese steak. So my wife and I stopped today for the first time. The inside is a little dated but do not let that stop you for from eating there. the service was fast and the food even better. The onion rings and fries were hot and cooked perfect. the steak were also fantastic and we both had enough left over for the next day. you will not be disappointed ,skip the national chains and support your local guys they have the best food. we will be back."

"Now Rick's Cheese Steak Shop has an AWESOME cheese steak!!! Awesome friendly people. Clean restaurant!! Good price for the awesome food and quality of what you get. Decor is great!! Please go vist them!!! Thanks for always having great quality and consistency!! We had 2 large cheese steak subs with drinks and a SMALL order of fries! The cheese is melted into the meat not just put on top. You can taste it all through the sub. I highly recommend Rick's Cheese Steak Shop in Newport News Va to anyone living or visiting this area!"

"The service was fast. Food came out quickly. We got mozzarella sticks that came out with a strange marinara. My son ordered the steak and cheese with extra meat. It was huge and very good. I ordered a burger. It was tough and I'm pretty sure a frozen patty which I didn't eat. He got the fried cheesecake which was also pretty tasty. We were leaving and there was a rush at the bar, people coming in ordering, picking up, trying to check out. If they put better systems in place and used real meat for their $9 burgers it could easily be 5 stars."
