The Ashby Restaurant

"I just went to Ashby with my girlfriend for 2 days and the location was beautiful. I enjoyed going hiking and I thought the service was wonderful. The whole time I felt welcomed and right at home. The only issue that I really had was the prices on the dinner menu. We did not get dinner at Ashby because the average price of a meal was $70+ dollars for one person. Because of these jaw dropping prices, we went somewhere to eat about 30 minutes away. The complimentary breakfast was delicious and very filling. I would recommend this get away stay at Ashby to anyone who needs to get away and have a nice couple of days."

"My family and I have gone to the Ashby for special holidays for years. We have decided we won't be going back again sadly. We ordered what we normally would, less actually as we did not all get an appetizer or a dessert. The food quality and also food quantity were just really lacking. And the mark up on prices was jaw dropping. A 40$ bottle of wine had been marked up to $112. We were really disappointed in the food and extreme increase in prices."

"The ambiance is very nice, and the food is well prepared. However, after having what I thought was a nice dinner, the next morning I was gravely ill. One would think a restaurant like the Ashby Inn would maintain better quality control over the ingredients in their cuisine. Sadly, this was not the case for me. My sister promptly canceled her reservation she had with a friend after she saw my condition. When she called to cancel, someone told her the General Manager would call, but she never received a calm from them. This was a very unpleasant experience for me. Hopefully it does not happen to many others."

"Extraordinary getaway weekend to the gorgeous Virginia countryside. Stayed in the schoolhouse and view was gorgeous. Room had a great fireplace and sizable bathroom. Restaurant dinners (are there two nights) was excellent as were the morning breakfasts which were included in the room price. Loved the staff in the restaurant and the office. Nearby towns offer great weekend browsing. Super place. We already booked for next year."

"We enjoyed an early dinner here at the restaurant. The wine list is one of the best I’ve seen in the Metro area. Our server was pleasant and professional with excellent knowledge of food and wine. The terrace was situated beautifully overlooking the garden and mountainside. The food was superb and presentation spectacular. I highly recommend the restaurant for a special occasion or just for a respite in a rural setting. Thank you to everyone on the staff who made our visit enjoyable."
