Reviews
"Dr Mitzel is knowledgeable and allows you to participate in your treatment decisions. He listens and makes suggestions but ultimately leaves the decision to you, or helps you if you cant make decisions due to current condition. His front desk staff is great. Usually returns calls same day or next day."
"Absolutely horrible staff. Completely rude and have no sympathy for their patients at all. Dr Mitzel only wants your money, could not care less about your health and well being. If you are in need of any psychiatric help whatsoever, please find someone else to help you. These clowns will only make you feel worse."
"Dr. Mitzel has been my psychiatrist for several years now, and I'm grateful for his knowledgeable care. He is a seasoned, empathetic professional who knows his stuff. As a bonus, he has a great sense of humor, which I appreciate. Levity is a gift. I highly recommend Dr. Mitzel to anyone seeking a psychiatrist."
"I've been seeing Dr. Mitzel for over 10 years, and I have no complaints. He is consistently kind and works with me to provide the best treatment that I can realistically maintain. It's sad to see other reviews bash the practice. Imagine not showing up for work; you'd get dropped after one no-show. Doctors who are "only there for the bottom line" double and triple book their clients. Mitzel, on the other hand, actually cares enough to reserve my time slot for me and me alone. Imagine being an adult and keeping your appointments.. imagine calling to reschedule if you can''t. He and Mary Carol are both consistently sympathetic to whatever I'm going through. In 2019 I lost several people, including my Mom, and they helped me through. They are also very good at linking me up with additional care when needed. I've seen a huge increase in my quality of life thanks to these folks."
"Had been seeing Dr. Mitzel for 14 years when I was terminated by him for missed appointments--at least that's the reason I THINK my care was terminated. I did miss appts. but was going through a very difficult time. My husband of 37 years passed away unexpectedly. We had been invited to live with my closest living relative in her side-by-side duplex to assist her with the care of her husband who had developed Alzheimer's disease. On my husband's last birthday, May 13, her husband was admitted to an Alzheimer's care facility. My husband passed away on August 10, and my relative passed away on November 5. I was a basket case. Really. I thought Dr. Mitzel would have been more understanding. I never gave it a thought that he would terminate my care, especially when I was in such a vulnerable state. But that's exactly what he did. I thank God that I still had a very caring, beyond caring really, therapist whom I have been seeing since 1997 and am still seeing. It was this therapist who recommended Dr. Mitzel to me. For Dr. Mitzel to terminate my care was, at the time, the absolutely worst possible thing that could have happened. That's what I believed at the time. I had been diagnosed by Dr. Mitzel as being Bipolar Type II--Soft Bipolar. I had taken Lithium for 14 years for this condition. Was to learn by a new psychiatrist that I was not Bipolar at all. He took me off Lithium and little by little over a period of just a few months, my severe, recalcitrant depression that I thought I would have forever and had suffered from for YEARS left. I have been depression-free since 2014. Now I thank God Dr. Mitzel did terminate my care. This is my success story, but it could have been a lot different had it not been for another psychiatrist who was able to diagnose me as not being Bipolar and took me off Lithium. Dr. Mitzel's office staff left so much to be desired. They were some of the rudest women I have ever had to try to communicate with. I don't know from where he got some of the women who worked in his office, but they were hard as nails."
