"I learned more from Dr Brooke than any other individual in my life"

"I went in for a consultation. Upon meeting Dr. Brooke, he asked for my insurance card and wasn't familiar with my plan. He scanned the card but asked how I would be making payment if insurance was not accepted. This was an uncomfortable first encounter and impression. The session went well. I felt Dr. Brooke had a few interesting points, however he would not elaborate or go into detail of his thoughts. At the end of our session, Dr. Brooke stressed again for me to call insurance to see if services would be accepted, stating, "I'm close to retirement and just cannot work for free". From the beginning of the session to the end, the only thing Dr. Brooke cared about is getting paid and not the suffering and outreaching individual in front of him. A week later I received a bill from his practice. I wrote a check, mailed it to him and left him a voicemail for clarification and confirmation. Dr. Brooke responded, leaving me a voicemail saying not to worry about the check, "Merry Christmas" and "I would not charge you for a simple consultation, don't worry about this, I will take care of it". Here we are a week later from that and I am receiving a final notice of payment or a collections agency will be called. I called Dr. Brooke's office to speak with him about this and instead got a receptionist who was unhelpful, and became inpatient and rude when I requested to leave a voicemail for Dr. Brooke. She instead demanded I call a separate number without explaining who the recipient of the call would be, and still would not let me leave a message for Dr. Brooke after explaining my time sensitive matter. I called the number she gave me which rang until a robotic dial tone message came on saying "the person you are trying to reach is unavailable, goodbye". So no opportunity to leave a voicemail there either. I called the collection agency and they confirmed that I do still have an outstanding balance due. I explained to them that I sent Dr. Brooke a check paid in full, however he offered to pay himself. It is apparent he has not done so causing me to receive final notices with threat of legal collections taking over. The whole operation was unprofessional. From the entrance code not working at the door, the constant reminder of him needing payment and then not following through, and the feeling of helplessness with people he has answering the phones. Disappointed I'll likely have to put my trust back to the VA."
