L'Auberge Provencale Bed and Breakfast

"This is a delightful small inn situated between Front Royal and Winchester, VA. It offers both accomodations and fine dining, including a small bar and an impressive wine list. Bottle wide started just below $50 and went well into four figure territory. The local Virginia wines are suprisingly good. Both the accomodations and the cuisine share a French theme. The rooms we have stayed in featured real working fireplaces, which is a nice touch in cooler wether. Dinner is served with your choice of an ala carte or price fixe menu. Accomodations also include a breakfast with a choice of six or more selections. The optional Bloody Marys were very spicy on this visit. Another useful ammenity was on site EV charging stations, including one 40 Amp Tesla station and a 30 Amp Clipper Creek J-1772 station. We were able to secure the latter for several hours. The historic Olde Twon district of Winchester is easily within roundtrip EV range of even a modest PHEV."

"We dined at the restaurant in late October and the facility is beautiful. The landscape in fall is serene. However, we were there for the food experience and that was disappointing. My husband had escargot, which turned out to be the best part of the meal. I had butternut squash soup for an appetizer. It was served lukewarm to cool in temperature. The wait staff did not offer to assist when I commented on it. The champagne was served room temperature. I asked about it being chilled to two wait staff and eventually they brought some ice. Not really the solution I wanted. They got my husband’s dinner order wrong and to take back what they brought out. I had steak, which was a tough cut of meat and wasn’t cooked at the temperature I ordered. Based on other reviews, I may have just experienced a bad night of service. We drove several hours with the specific purpose of dining at this restaurant. It was a disappointment."

"The room was lovely and service was excellent. Whatever we needed they were very willing to accommodate. The pool was also a great addition to the stay, just right down the road from the main inn. We also had the pool to ourselves which was great. Thanks for the excellent stay!!"

"We stayed at the L'Auberge Provencale Bed and Breakfast in early August to celebrate an anniversary. The staff could not have been more pleasant and welcoming the room was just as lovely as pictured on the website and check in and check out were seamless. The included breakfast had multiple selections and included freshly baked breads that were delicious they even included a fruit plate in the afternoon which was nice to munch on before dinner. Therre were lots of things to see and do in the surrounding Shenandoah Valley such beautiful scenery and quaint small towns."

"My wife and I spent three nights here for our 40th wedding anniversary. Our selection of the Lafayette suite in the main house was perfect - very clean, spacious, well appointed, quiet, and with a spacious outdoor deck in which to enjoy morning coffees and sunset with views of the the surrounding pastures and distant mountains. As for breakfasts and dinners each night (2 nights in the bistro and 1 in the main dining room) - because why go anywhere else? - all were terrific. Never a "miss" in any way. A wide and interesting variety always made choosing difficult, but with every selection we agreed with previous raves about the cuisine. The recognition they've received for food and wine is rightly earned. Bravo! to the chef and the kitchen staff. Celeste and her front of house staff were wonderful - always pleasant, attentive, and happy to make our stay the best it could be. A special recognition goes out to Drew, Kelly, Grace, Wendy, James, and Sebastian - and to the housekeeping staff who ensured our suite was in top condition and well stocked. Highly recommended."
