"Really should have read reviews first, my experience was familiar across the 1 star, negative reviews. The “technician” had no idea what our machine even was! He asked me all the questions & even asked for my former company (who no longer repairs the machines they sell) to see if he could call the retired employee to get advice! I was charged $704 for the first day, when all I did was explain to HIM what needs done. Then they were supposed to show up around a month later, never did & even admitted that they never call & just show up. A second call was placed & they said they’d be in, no they did not come in of course. So we just waited until one day they came in & it was another $799. There were parts & repairs done for sure. I’ve had this same service done for almost a third of the cost (usually $500-800) including parts, service, drive time, etc. Not to mention the old place would be in the next day, prompt, fast, & friendly. This company is gouging & scamming you. Call elsewhere & look at reviews first. I am so angry w/myself for not doing the research on this place. $1,500 mistake I made."
"This company is a scam, I had originally placed a call tomorrow service for a month until I had to call back after I paid to make an appointment. Then a month later a man came to "fix" and only looked at it and charged me +$400 after the initial payment of $150+ to never return and fix it. I called multiple times and was told the next day the technician would come and they never did. I will also be reporting this to the better business bureau as fraudulent. No efforts were made to resolve this even after waiting 3 months."
"First and foremost, I am dissatisfied customer and would not recommend this company. Company left us only fustrated at the cost for an arm and leg. They didn’t repair the equipment I called about. Two "technicians" came and only did actual maintenance while the other guys just held a flashlight. We were charged twice for two hours labor. Four months later the issue still has not been resolved"
"I had a very similar experience as the last reviewer. I actually have used AIS’s services before at my business with no problems until this week. When I called AIS for service they said only one tech was knowledgeable about my machine. (Which is confusing since AIS is the manufacturer’s distributor in the Pittsburgh area.) The tech AIS sent had no idea what the problem was even though I confirmed with him when he got to my shop that he was familiar with my equipment. We called the machine's manufacturer as I suggested but he refused to ask for the person I told him to speak with so the person he spoke with was no help. After tinkering for quite a while and other phone calls, he insisted that a particular part needed to be changed. He said that exact part is no longer made so he would also need to change other parts to make it compatible. I asked if he was sure that part was the problem and he said since it wasn’t anything else he could identify that must be the problem. Fortunately for me, the mfr’s parts Dept was closed for lunch. He then disappeared for a long time and I found him in his truck on the phone. Again, fortunately for me, the manufacturer’s tech who I wanted him to talk to from the beginning had called back and told him the problem wasn’t with the machine at all but a problem with the power source coming into the building. (The manufacturer’s tech told me later that, if the part the AIS tech wanted to change ever did need to be changed, I should never allow someone to do it the way the AIS tech recommended because it would require a total rewriting of my $40,000 machine.) When I called the mfr back the AIS tech shoved his iPad in my face for my signature with no info on the screen. I signed it since I was on the phone so he would leave. That night I saw I was charged $467 on my credit card. (They had also put two charges for $350 on my credit card - one was put on when I called the previous week before I even had an appt scheduled.) I called the service manager the next day to ask what the $467 charge covered since the tech didn’t leave me a bill. He said I was charged for 3.25 service hours. I told him I understood the travel charge and time for diagnostics but I shouldn’t be charged for the hour the tech sat in his truck on the phone especially after the mfr’s tech told him there wasn’t a problem with the machine at all. He got argumentative so I asked him to confirm the details of the appt with his tech and get back to me. He never called back. The next day an electrician resolved the power problem but my machine wasn’t freezing properly as it had been before the AIS tech tinkered with it. I called the manager back to find out what adjustments the tech had made to my machine. The manager insisted the tech hadn’t made any adjustments to my machine. I told him I was at his tech’s side the whole time and know that he did, in fact, make adjustments. I also asked what he thought the tech did for 3.25 hours if he hadn’t made any adjustments. He kept arguing with me about the events of the previous day basically saying I was lying about the facts because they didn’t match his tech’s version. He said he’d have the tech call me. The tech called me shortly thereafter and started shouting at me for “throwing him under the bus”. (???) I told him I needed to know what adjustments he made and he denied making any. I reminded him of several things he did and he said he was just checking settings and didn’t make adjustments (not true). So I was charged $467 for him “not making any adjustments” (what exactly did he do for 3.25 hours?) and when there was no problem with my machine at all to begin with (which he should have recognized from the beginning since several non-electricians and non-refrigeration people I discussed my issue with immediately identified the problem as a power issue and not a mechanical issue.) Thank goodness I didn’t let him start changing parts! Beware this company! I don’t know if it’s new management or what but very unprofessional and unethical practices."
"Scheduled a repair of a convection oven and they never showed. After I called and re-scheduled they sent someone a few days later, which was fine. The tech they sent did not possess the tools necessary to read and diagnose the problem. He had to ask my employees to read the serial numbers off of parts and appeared to be unequipped for the job, overall. For 102 dollars per hour and $145 travel costs I am severely dissatisfied. The tech never made a diagnosis but only suggested that he did not know what was wrong and he wanted to replace approx 1700 dollars in parts on a 3500 dollar piece of equipment. There was supposed to be a follow-up email documenting the recommendations and listing the parts he recommended but that never came. The service call was more than one week from the time of this review. Essentially, we paid over $450 for someone to tell my manager that he did not know what was wrong and that we need to spend 1700 dollars on parts and it still might not work. Not that my measly 500 dollars means a damn thing but I will never use this company again and will actively suggest other service companies to the other business owners I know. This might be an isolated experience, and if so, what can ya do, but it doesn't change the fact they really dropped the ball here."
