"A time capsule from a vastly better age. Where to start, first the proprietor lets me in with a friendly smile and encouragement to look around , even though it was one minute until posted closing time. I was overwhelmed at the shop. I first spotted model trains, as a smile found my face. Thinking back to my childhood and the set we put together it was shops like this we would go to. Pressing on I found a vast selection of models to be had. Builders heaven!! Now to sound like a infomercial.....but wait there's more. Wandering further I found this is not a hobby shop but a hardware store also. But not a corporate big box store but a honest to Gods hardware store from yesteryear. A place to grab a pound of eight penny nails from the bin and scoop, to the iconic display case of pocket knives of every make and model. The only thing missing from your standard movie set of a hardware store is the pickle barrel with the checkers game being played. Dotted throughout and on display are antiques of remarkable quality. If nothing else, you will find something that will spark your interest in this store. This should be listed as a national landmark. It's a true piece of Americana and I'm still grinning for my experience there. Do yourself a favor. Take the trip. Just look around and remember what it used to be to go shopping in an event.
