"Always a great experience, doing these things with family! Unfortunately, I’m not sure that we’ll return. Not very welcoming and they really take advantage of you with the pricing. We walked in as first timers, and there wasn’t an employee around for a minute or two. Then, a lady, painting at a table, acknowledged the family that had arrived before us, asking if they’d been there before, and that’s when we realized she was an employee. It was weird and awkward. I felt bad interrupting her, as she was focusing on her own painting. As I mentioned before, not very welcoming at all, and she was pretty abrasive as well. I assumed it was the owner, as no grown women that’s employed by another would risk their jobs with such poor social skills. The glass was cool, but we’ll stick with IMadeThis, downtown."
"I have very little artistic talent, but when I go to Hot Fired Arts and make something, I feel like a real artist! Even I can be successful there! Love the staff, too - they're always available to explain how to do things or offer suggestions. I highly recommend this wonderful shop!"
"I went to hot fired arts for the first time because I purchased a local flavor and my children received a gift certificate from a friend for their birthday. I let my children pick out pottery based on the amount of money I had from those two funding sources. When I went to pay, I discovered that the local flavor was accidentally redeemed on 10/8 by another business when they were trying to redeem their certificate on 10/8. It was very clear that my children and I had never been to Hot fired arts. They could also see the other certificate that was redeemed in another state on 10/8 but Hot fired arts wouldn’t honor the certificate and flavor indicates that it is up to the merchant’s discretion to honor certificates that are accidentally redeemed. I will never go back if that is how they function. I can’t be at two places at once it is apparent that it was an accidental redemption. I am extremely dissatisfied."
"I love this place! I've been going about once a week working on various ceramics. I buy something.. work on it for an hour or so, then take it home until next week, bring it back and work on it some more. Michelle, and her staff, are incredibly helpful and kind. I had no experience painting ceramics before this. Once you purchase a ceramic piece, they supply your paints and even fire it for you and you pick it up a week later. There are pieces for just about every budget. It's wonderful for adults but also for kids and teens who want to give it a try."
"I had been searching far and wide for a studio where you don’t just paint pottery but you can make it. I live closer to DC than to Frederick but i have made the drive up several times because of how great this studio is. If you’re looking for a place to mess around with wet clay without having to commit to classes then this is the place for you. I wish there were several more of these places everywhere. I’d go weekly if i could."
