"My son spent three years seeing Dr. Gurtunca for issues related to growth. For three years, he fell down the growth curve going from the 95th down to the 16th percentile. She refused to test him for GHD, and told us that he was fine, and would “just be short”. She then told us that she didn’t need to see him regularly even though our pediatrician was concerned that they were missing something. After a second opinion with someone outside of the practice, he was tested, and diagnosed with severe growth hormone deficiency. For the last seven years he was treated by a caring, thorough endocrinologist. I am angry that we spent 3 wasted years with this doctor, and I would highly suggest anyone who suspects their child has growth issues to find another doctor. It isn’t about being short, it is about being healthy. GHD affects more than your stature. I would give her zero stars if that was an option."

"Dr. Gurtunca, you are the ice queen and the queen of mean. The way you treated my granddaughter is unacceptable and cruel. You need to know that she cried every day for a week after her appointment with you. My daughter brought my granddaughter to you seeking help. Instead, you body shamed her and made things much worse. You called my granddaughter obese and made her feel terrible. You did nothing to help my granddaughter and crushed her spirit. The advise that you had given us was incorrect. My granddaughter has seen another doctor and is doing much better without your lack of help. The advice you had originally given, would have made her gain more weight and continuously be unsatisfied. You should retire before you hurt someone else's child. You make me sick."

"I am extremely disappointed. My 16 year old daughter's blood pressure and frequent weight gain are concerning. She has been eating less and exercising daily, and gained 11 pounds in 2 months. My child's blood work showed high testosterone levels. Her pediatrician referred us to Children's Hospital. We were informed that a medication would be prescribed. Dr. Gurtunca referred to my daughter as obese and told us that she needs a nutritionist and a behavioral therapist. Medication was not prescribed. I was told to bring my daughter back in 6 months. My daughter cried all the way home and is very sad. We expected to receive help and did not. Also, Dr. Gurtunca saw my daughter crying in the office and said nothing to comfort her. Shame on you Dr. Gurtunca."
