Reviews of Giant Food
"I shop at this Giant on a regular basis without issue until the evening of Saturday Jan 13, 2024... I had stopped off at the CVS across the street to grab an item, then I walked over to Giant to grab some other things on my way home. Since I don't drive I was wearing a black hoodie with the top over my head a little because I had to stand at the bus stop for 40 minutes on my way from work (I work at the Food Lion in Featherstone which also owns Giant Food...ask for store manager Scott he will know who I am), to the Giant Store on Dale Blvd and I was cold (I also work in the dairy department at my job and I am always cold too). But the minute I walked in and because I didn't remove my hoodie I felt like I was being watched and labeled a thief or a possible shoplifter, please know that when you shop at this location there is a security guard posted at the front entrance and a plain clothes security person who looks like a customer who walks the store to deter or catch anyone stealing...(I walked into this person on their phone as I was grabbing a box of trash bags, he instantly looked at me with suspicion). Anyways I grabbed the items I needed and then proceeded to a register to pay for my merchandise (cashier was a polite and nice African American guy), at this point the store manager or assistant on duty (white guy, 30's with brown hair), came out and stood right there to make sure I paid for my purchase (6:45pm in the amount of $30.09). I was upset but I was tired after being up since 5:30 that morning and just wanted to get home and get warm and wanted to say something but felt that if I did then I would be viewed with more suspicion so grabbed my bags and left...as I did a young woman who was manning the self check-outs stared at me with arrogance and distain.... Don't assume that someone is a thief unless you have proof, don't judge a book by its cover based on the way a person's dressed, next time I come in the store you will know who I am because I usually wear a yellow down vest so you can easily recognize me, I wish I had worn it that night and had just taken my hoodie off or best just purchased my items at my place of work to prevent something like this from happening.... The point I am trying to make is why would I come into that store and steal from the same company that owns Food Lion and risk losing my job after being there for a year and making good money, I am an honest person who always pays for merchandise if its at my job or Giant..."
"No so good customer service not all employees. Customer service is great the morning cashier. But the Deli manager ain’t so friendly her demeanor so mean with hatefulness. Like seriously life is kicking me enough To deal with people like her and I definitely know they’ll sweep it under the rug. I’m not shocked nor surprised how some of the giant’s employees are. They condone this type of behavior trust me I’ve had way worse experience to the point it was mentally draining me. Accountability needs to take place and firm action not a dollar amount nor friendship should keep people like her there. Its far worse workers who speak far worse being bullies mentally and emotionally abusive. The hatefulness and bullies get praised why the ones who are a breath of fresh air get knocked down."
"I had one of the greatest experiences here that I’ve had anywhere and I will never forget the kindness of Roxana! The Florist Roxana was the sweetest ever! Even when approached she had the biggest smile on her face! She even took the balloons out to my car without being asked because I was with my 3 month old daughter who was getting a little fussy. Things like this shouldn’t go unnoticed && Roxana should be recognized!"
"What is going on with the meats here lately?! In the past week, I have had to return/throw away Perdue chicken cutlets, giant brand turkey wings, steaks and ribs. I went tonight and the amount of visibly bad meat is disgusting, swollen packaging, discolored red meats and ground beef. The ones I bought were not near expiration or clearance items. Horrible! Update - one week later. The manager, Ronnie reached out and gave me a gift card for the money lost due to all the poor visits and meat we had purchased. He was very nice and understanding, thanks again Ronnie!!"
