"The staff is totally unorganized. Scheduling is terrible! I’ve only seen the doctor one time and that was a first visit. I go in monthly for my shots. Just not what I expect from a doctors office. Would not recommend."
"I have been a patient with Kelly Mitchell for 5 years. She is a wonderful doctor and very nice. However, the office staff, particularly Vickey C., made derogatory and ableist remarks toward me when following up on COVID safety guidelines. Its a shame that the doctors of this office would tolerate this horrible and unprofessional behavior by their staff considering the treatment from the front desk and office manager reflects poorly on them and their practice. If you are looking for a doctor and do not want to be discriminated against- go elsewhere. Update: There are several other rheumatology offices in NOVA that care for their patients health and well being with office staff members that are professional. Some of which have much better reviews and credentials than this practice. Highly recommend switching."
"Update: The Lansdowne location has nice front office staff. Reston office: I was referred here by my GP and the reviews about the INCREDIBLY RUDE office staff are 100% accurate! They sigh and roll their eyes if you have a question. They are very short with everyone... And are even worse over the phone (where they feel so brave)! This is still true: They are also incompetent and disorganized. I had to call 3 times for them to finally submit my prescription to the pharmacy (over several weeks), causing me to miss a dosage! They take your co-pay upfront, because they know you will be waiting hours for your appointment! Yet don't use that time to take care of the blood work they know they ask for every time. No, they tack that on the end of your 2 hour visit. "Dr. G" is polite, but mumbles very softly and it can make for a very odd experience. And after all that waiting, she spends a total of 5 minutes with you. And you end up leaving there not quite sure she understood you or what just happened. Today, an elderly woman was 15 minutes late because the parking lot is impossible (have to circle to wait for a spot), ended up parking further away, and then walk in (slowly--as she is older and with arthritis!). They were going to refuse her and charge her as a no show! Despite the fact that they were OVER an hour behind schedule! Thankfully she fought it and pointed out that she always has 2 hour wait times here! I was about to point it out too, right when they decided to change their mind. I have only been here 3 times and I already want to pull my charts and leave! Ask your GP to refer you somewhere else - not here!"
"Incredibly rude staff. I don't even know where to begin. I felt so helpless by the way I was treated. I was referred to Rheumatology by my GP so I checked with my insurance and found this establishment to be in-network so I decided to call up and schedule an appt. The receptionist, a woman of Indian descent I believe (for identifying purposes only) asked me what insurance I had "because we don't accept all insurance", - already assuming my insurance is not accepted, not sure why- anyway, I told her Aetna. Her immediate responses was that she was not sure they accepted my insurance. I thought impossible because I have received much higher level of care with my insurance and have never once had a problem. so I asked her if she could please double check or do some digging to be certain she was giving me the right info. She got irritated and again dismissed me rudely. She literally hung up on me. I did not yell, I did not curse, I did not raise my voice. I just needed help and guidance and this woman did not have an ounce of care in her. So after being hung up on, I called back and a different receptionist took my call. I complained about my experience a few minutes ago. Her response was "I heard the conversation and I don't think we accept your insurance." In disbelief, I said to myself this must be a prank. So I pleaded with this second receptionist to please ask me some questions that may verify my insurance is in fact accepted. That's when she finally began asking some specific questions about the letters on my insurance card, what company I worked for, the numbers on the back of the card etc, basically the very basic things that you as a receptionist, it is your job to triage phone calls in this way. THE VERY BASICS!!! After 45 seconds of me verifying some info with her, it turns out my insurance is accepted. There was no apology (that I remember) and if she did the damage was irreparable. I told her this is not how you treat potential patients. people are calling your establishment because the are already sick for goodness sake. The least you can do is YOUR job if you can't extend kindness. I am convinced the doctors aren't aware of how these receptionists treat patients but the again its in just about every review, so I wonder what gives. Incredibly disgusting behavior. Ultimately I got an appointment, but could you imagine getting seen at this place? Unfortunately I have to because it is the only thing that meshes with my availability. Whoever is in charge needs to address those receptionists ASAP. Thanks for reading."
"Doctors at this location are knowledgeable and friendly. These doctors are professional and pleasant to work with. That said, I have had several extremely unpleasant and irritating interactions with some of the nurses working at this location. These interactions involved heavy sighing and eye rolling directed at patients for seemingly no reason. Wait times at this location are also fairly long and can average 30+ minutes after scheduled appointment time."
