"My mother was transferred to Reston hospital’s emergency department from Jefferson Hospital in Charles Town WV for a possible cardiac condition. They kept her overnight and called us first thing in the morning to tell us there was nothing more they could do for her and to come get her. I communicated that it would take a couple of hours for us to get there, the doctor told us to take our time. When we arrived, she was in a room alone, except for her discharge paperwork and a prescription for an oral antibiotic. She was unattached from all monitoring and hungry. She is diabetic and they never fed her because they discharged her so early. This was at 10 am and she hadn’t had anything to eat since the day before. Additionally the discharge paperwork stated she was treated for a UTI and nothing about the symptoms that brought her to the ER. It took several minutes for anyone to answer when pressing the call button and when we finally talked to a nurse, she had just come on and all the doctor told her was that my mom had been discharged. I asked the nurse for additional information, tests that had been run, etc and while the nurse said she would look into it and see if she could find the doctor we didn’t see her until 20 minutes later as we were leaving. On the way out I saw someone in scrubs just sitting in the hallway and checking her hair in her phone. Today my mom saw her primary care physician who told us to come to the ER because the UTI will not respond to oral antibiotics and that Reston should have admitted her to administer IV antibiotics. I am very disappointed in the level of care that she received and will never allow her to return."

"We have been in the ER since 11 am due to heart issues. The nurses are great however clearly understaffed. We havent had any news about his condition, if he's moving out of the ER or any updates at all. No one has been checking on him and he's been admitted overnight. I have no place to sleep and I'm afraid to leave him alone because no one is paying attention. I am furious with the lack of information and feel like we would have been better of with INOVA. I am disgusted with this situation. Next day edit: I'm editing this so other people can see how awful this care is. He was not checked on all night. We asked if we could be moved to a regular room instead of a room in the ER and they told us it's too much of a hassle for THEM. They took blood and left it in the room as well as containers of urine as they wouldnt let him go to the bathroom. The doctors today were incredibly dismissive and didnt seem to care that what happened was irregular for a healthy 30 yr old and don't care to find out. We are still waiting for another test to be done and they haven't let us know any information as to when thats happening. We are planning on having him discharged and find a doctor who actually cares because the current doctors clearly don't."

"The staff at the hospital jumped into action when we rushed into the hospital after my father had a deep cut on his hand. The nurses and PAs were so helpful, keeping spirits high! Doctor Jacobs was extremely professional and light-hearted! PA Jackie Harper was beyond kind, sweet, compassionate, caring, and professional! She was very gentle and easy to talk to, time flew when she was helping us! There was a long wait to be discharged, but I understand it was due to an increase of patients that were admitted."

"Mom was admitted overnight and her ER nurse was awesome. Hard working and efficient, very nice to elderly with Alzheimer’s. We met min’s tech, Jason, once she got to her room. Thankfully, he had just started his shift. Honestly, wish we could adopt him to our family! Nicest person EVER! He really helped us to relax from a stressful situation. Loved him! Last, it was the quickest discharge. Again, very efficient. The nurse and staff were wonderful. Would come here again if we needed a reliable, safe and clean hospital with excellent care!"
