"Now that my dog has passed I feel comfortable to leave the rating/ review I wanted to leave a couple of years ago. Dr. Pema’s appointments cost $400+ each time and both times she mostly had her back to us. She didn’t interact with my dog at all but her very kind office staff always did while assisting her. I don’t know if it was because he was a Pit or if it was something about me but she didn’t seem to care to engage with us. I went to her for a more holistic approach to things and was surprised when she wanted me to give him heart worm medicine so I posted about it in a holistic dog group on Facebook. I did not mention her name or the name of her practice, I only said that a holistic vet I had gone to didn’t seem very holistic in their treatment approach. She actually emailed me telling me that she saw my post… What professional does that? Like I told her I didn’t do anything wrong and I didn’t name her so I wasn’t going to be made to feel like I had done something wrong. I told her not to bother to email me back and she still did. I never looked at her response because I’m not going to go back and forth with someone I had paid $800+ to. I had wrongly assumed that going to a Buddhist vet meant that I could maybe expect less prejudice toward my pit bull and myself & if lucky be in an environment that wouldn’t cause my dog as much anxiety as other vets had in the past but this was even worse. Her staff was really friendly and the office was very relaxing. If they had had another option for a vet then I’d probably have contributed going there. I don’t expect to be coddled and I’d even take neutral but this was indifference & she had some audacity to call me out about my post."

"Best vet practice I've ever found. Many holistic treatments as well as conventional care but the extra is in the people and the atmosphere that they create. Their "fear free" commitment is apparent in every interaction with both my dog and me. Had very good results with harrowing spinal condition of my beloved elderly corgi. "Traumatic Grooming Experience Visited Holistic Veterinary Healing for a balanced diet plan and supplements for my 6 month old Havanese puppy.  During the initial visit, he felt very relaxed and comfortable so, I decided to give the tech who works as a contract groomer, Jessica Elena, a try. Our puppy  has been going to a groomer twice a month for the past 4 months and has never bitten anyone. When I dropped him off for his appointment, I clarified he was to get a puppy TRIM according to his breed.  However, when I returned, he had a buzz cut & nicks on his body. Excuses such as my puppy moving and biting were the reasons she gave for giving him this unauthorized cut.  No apology was given regarding the unprofessionalism and lack of judgement. However, she did apologize for me not liking it because, “She thought it was cute”. He is currently having issues being outside and has trouble sleeping at night.  This experience has been traumatic for my 6 month old puppy, and my entire family. I feel obligated to warn others.  If I’d read a review like this, I wouldn’t have left my puppy in her care.  Hopefully, this will prevent others from the same experience with Jessica Elena."

"I highly recommend Holistic Veterinary Healing and Dr. Pema. My trust of her and her staff is so high, that I am willing to drive 4 hours, each way, from Pittsburgh, PA to take our fur-babies to see her. She and the entire staff are knowledgeable and compassionate. For me, by far the best option."
