Black Rock Flats Boat Launch 1060-1146 Black Rock Road, Hanover, PA 17331
About the Business
Black Rock Flats Boat Launch is a part of the expansive 3,500-acre Codorus State Park located in Hanover, Pennsylvania. Situated on the shores of the 1,275-acre Lake Marburg, this boat launch provides access to a variety of recreational activities such as boating, fishing, picnicking, swimming, and camping.
The lake is a favorite spot for both sail and motor boaters, as well as anglers looking to catch warmwater fish or trout in Codorus Creek. Birdwatchers also flock to the area, as Lake Marburg serves as a rest stop for migrating waterfowl and shorebirds.
For those interested in scuba diving, Sinsheim Cove on the east side of the park is the designated area due to the high volume of boat traffic on the lake. Divers must register and show certification at the park office before diving, and adhere to safety protocols such as using the buddy system and a diving flag.
Nature enthusiasts can explore the park's nature trails and bird viewing station, while electric vehicle owners can utilize the two-plug charging station in the upper marina parking area. Information on the nearest hospital, UPMC Pinnacle Hanover, is readily available at the park office.
With its rich history dating back to 1681, Codorus State Park and Black Rock Flats Boat Launch embody the spirit of tolerance and freedom that Pennsylvania is known for. Visit this picturesque destination for a day of outdoor fun and relaxation.

Reviews
"Give it five stars for the bridge that surfaced. Beautiful spot quiet. Not so much on the weekends though."
"Paddled around a bit. Severely weeded up. Water way down. Bank fished a bit for cat/carp knowing you cannot cast out but 20 feet. Not much structure at all."
"After a thorough evaluation, I must say that the lake is indeed beautiful. However, I am rating this boat ramp with three stars due to the unfortunate circumstances of low water levels and an unpleasant muddy and smelly condition. During my kayaking experience, I noticed two other boat ramps that were far more appealing with clear water and no mud, leading me to believe that I simply made an unfortunate choice."
"My opinion best quiet spot on the lake to see wildlife and just relax with nature."
"Fantastic lake, big enough that if you're paddling you can take two or three days to explore all the areas and channels. There are numerous official areas to be able to put into the water all around the lake. It's never too busy so you're not dealing with a lot of wake from powered boats and the peacefulness is not disturbed. My favorite place to go paddle."
