"Love this place. A great atmosphere with excellent food and exceptional service. Check it out. Know initially for their pizza and sliders but have other food as well. We had the ribs and pasta in addition to pizza. For appetizers we had the ahi and calamari. Try the doughnuts for dessert. Hot from the oven. Check it out."
"This is one of restaurants in the local Matchbox chain. It started in DC. One of the owners' wives collected matchboxes, hence the name. In the original restaurant, matchboxes were epoxied into the table tops. This one has a large area on two floors with outdoor dining. They are known for pizza and sliders. I love the pizza but folks in our party had ribs and burgers too. The food and atmosphere were great. We like the location for shopping in the mall. Check it out."
"I think the flying bugs need to be dealt with. They could easily get rid of them but there's so many, I spent most of the time swatting them away from our food. The food is most certainly overpriced. I don't think I'll be back. I don't remember the costs being so high. The wings were 6 for $18. There's nothing special about them. My pasta was bland and needed heavy salting. The pizza was good. The burger was OK. Fries also bland. The salmon was tasty but they didn't have the side that came with it, so they subbed for mashed potatoes, which was a nasty glob of glue like, flavorless paste. I'm done with this location."
"The staff and space are amazing. The pizza was overpriced for the taste and quality. Will go back and try other menu items that looked/sounded good."
"We had been to matchbox once before, and I can’t say that I found it particularly memorable. However, since we were staying at the Ritz-Carlton Pentagon City, I thought we would give it a try again when my husband was craving pizza. Getting seated was a bit of a challenge as we waited for almost ten minutes before staff showed up to seat us, and then automatically assumed we were part of a larger group that was in front us, maybe because they were the same race as my husband? Not sure why. We were eventually seated and it took a while for our server to come over, but she was very nice and attentive once she finally made an appearance. My husband custom ordered a pizza while I had their mini burgers (doused in shoestring onion rings) and we shared some buffalo wings. The little burgers were perfect – I liked them because they are basically bite sized and the buns have a tasty glaze on them. The beef was also cooked to perfection with a little tiny amount of cheese – it was the perfect size, personally I prefer this size to actual sliders as there is less bread. The wings were good, and while they weren’t anything I had never had before I actually thought they had tossed them in the right amount of buffalo sauce. My husband had a pizza made specially to his liking and thoroughly enjoyed it – it is worth noting that the restaurant has a woodfire pizza oven. The restaurant is a chain, and is basically fancy American pub style food – aside from my initial critique of being greeted, I thought the prices were too much, and for example the wings were way overpriced. It is worth trying if you want something that isn’t a food court and you’re in the area."
