"My wife, another couple and our two babies recently stayed at this Airbnb house. We were sorry to find that the house did not meet our expectations and would definitely not stay here again. While the house had the classic A-Frame appeal, the inside was another story. When we arrived the cleaners were still cleaning, even though we were way past the check-in time. So we had to wait in the car with the babies while they finished. Upon entering the house, we quickly realized it was not a clean living situation. The bed lines were threadbare and the quilts clearly had not been washed. I kept socks on in the downstairs bedroom because the wall to wall carpeting in the downstairs bedroom was not a surface I would want my skin to touch. The heat downstairs worked great but the couple and baby upstairs were freezing, even with the door to their bedroom open. The baby monitor was reading 58 degrees while the downstairs monitor was 80. The kitchen supplies felt like they had gone to a dozen yard sales and picked up a mismatch of old dirty pots and pans. Many of the utensils were not properly cleaned, likely due to the fact there is no dishwasher. On day two we smelled gas so we called the host. The host informed us to call the fire department, which we did. They showed up, along with the gas company and apparently gas was delivered earlier that day and some leaked which is why there was a smell in the house. This was not the hosts fault but if we had known they were delivering the gas, we wouldn’t have had to rush our babies out of the house and down to the bottom of the icy driveway where we had to park the cars (the driveway was not plowed and too dangerous to drive up). Aesthetically, the house fit into the kitschy Vermont ski “chalet” category, with a bag of cinnamon sticks on the bathroom sink, snow globe trinkets, and the Airbnb instruction signs in offensive fonts. I don’t like giving a negative review but when you take time off work and drive four hours to a place that doesn’t feel clean, it is frustrating. If the host invested in some new sheets, mattresses, decluttered the place a bit, and figured out the heating situation, I think it would be a much more enjoyable stay. I hope they improve the house for future guests."
