"Hosting events at The Hermitage is always a delightful experience. From the enchanting drive through the covered bridge at the property's entrance, setting the stage for a warm, delightful, and quintessentially Vermont experience, to the array of indoor and outdoor event options, The Hermitage is a canvas for crafting unparalleled celebrations which we have had the honor to provide to our clients over the years. The sprawling lawns, thoughtfully landscaped to host event tents, the serene pond offering a perfect first-look location for couples, and the stone patio overlooking a charming orchard—all these spaces, unique in their own right, seamlessly intertwine, provide an elevated experience for both hosts and guests. Inside the Inn, you'll find versatile spaces tailored for hosting events— the snug library, delightful den, intimate wine cellar, roomy tavern, and chic dining area. This infusion of the heart and soul by owners Tom & Mary Lou is palpable throughout the property. The exceptional team truly sets The Hermitage apart. The well-vetted and pleasant staff elevate every aspect of the guest experience. Moreover, the commitment to providing high-level customer service and delivering an outstanding culinary experience adds an extra layer of excellence to The Hermitage's offerings. We want to sincerely thank the Hermitage Team for always welcoming the SHE Luxe Team with open arms. Their commitment, professionalism, and genuine passion for what you do make the event planning process seamless and enjoyable. We value each one of you and eagerly anticipate our next event together! With gratitude & admiration, Kimberly Curless SHE Luxe Events"
"Beautiful, quaint, high-end. Come here for date night at least! Stay the night to enjoy additional luxuries, such as the sauna, full gym, archery, and more. Food is incredible, wine is on point, live music during dinner is great."
"Beautiful grounds and rooms, however the service was abysmal. At both breakfast and dinner you’re seated promptly then ignored. After finally ordering you would expect food to arrive but you’d be wrong. Expect to wait at least the same amount of time it took to order. Some tables at breakfast (which is included with the room) are offered pastries others get nothing. Forget about getting a refill on coffee or water. The food was made well but by the time it’s placed in front of you the hunger has passed. At dinner, we were again seated promptly but then left to fend for ourselves until someone was willing to take our order after 20 min. After receiving the first course it was another 30 min before the next course…you get the idea of where this is going. In the grand scheme of things, these are small potatoes, but when you are charging a premium price you expect premium service. It’s a shame that the service is terrible because it’s a beautiful inn."
"Just not what it used to be. Still nice and good. But the standards are not there like they used to be. I've been 4 times with the new chef, just very inconsistent."
"The halibut special was a little salty, overall delicious (I’m a fan of salt) the broth was flavorful and the fish was fresh and flaky. I had a bit of food envy. I ordered the scallops which were just okay. They were served with brussel sprouts were cooked perfect as was the colorful cauliflower. Could have used way more of the delicious sweet potato! There wasn’t more than a table spoon and a half of it dabbed perfectly under the scallops. See pics."
