"I cannot say enough about Chelsea! My two Great Danes (3 year old siblings) were getting progressively worse in their behavior. Especially Sulley, who had taken to throwing himself at the window when a delivery truck came in the yard and then he would turn on his sister if she got in the way. He was not fun to have around, had to be kenneled when people came in, etc. He went to Chelsea for a three week program, and Jayne joined him for two, as she wasn't quite as problemsome as he was. She needed more fine tuning in her manners. They came home on December 22, and they were like new dogs. It was worth every penny we invested in their training. Over the holidays we had lots of people, including some they had never met, in and out and both dogs stayed relaxed on place command, and were super chill. I am able to walk them both together on heel, which will be useful as we spend our winter in Florida in a neighborhood, which they are not used to. We live in the woods and they are used to quiet and no other dogs. I am overjoyed with the work Chelsea did, and I am so grateful to have peace in my household again!!"
"We cannot recommend Pups Maine enough! They gave our dog – and us – the tools and skills needed to gain back a sense of security and control in our lives. Our story: We have a 3 year old Frenchie who is playful and loving with people and dogs he knows, but has gotten more and more reactive and aggressive with new dogs and strangers over time. He also can be possessive over toys and treats. Unfortunately, those unchecked negative behaviors resulted in him biting a few people and fighting with dogs — and they made walks and public outings with him feel extremely stressful and unsafe. We tried shorter, more casual trainings with him before, but they didn’t make much of an impact. We honestly thought we’d have to just accept the fact that we couldn’t control our own dog, and we’d have to shield him from the outside world as much as possible to avoid another harmful incident. Enter Pups Maine. We signed him up for the 30 day ‘Save My Dog Board & Train Package’ after learning about their approach to behavior modification – particularly e-collar training, which we had not tried before. Although it’s hard to leave your dog for 30 days, we felt that Chelsea and her partner were committed and truly cared. Because Pups Maine only takes in a small number of dogs for training at a time, our Frenchie got a lot of 1:1 attention and practice each day of his stay. (He also got some really fun play time!). After they worked on basic commands, proper leash-walking and e-collar training, they gradually put him in controlled environments where he’d be near other dogs and people to really put those skills to the test. What’s also key about their approach: Chelsea made sure to train US too, so we would be able to confidently take over the reins at the end of his stay (we got lessons mid-way during his training and at the end). The results have made a profound difference in our lives. Our Frenchie is far more manageable on walks and stays right next to us – it’s actually fun now and not stressful! If we encounter new dogs and people on walks, we know now how to avoid or mitigate his reactions. It’s a big relief. A few weeks after his training, we had a family member and their dog visit, which we had been nervous about prior to the training. However, because we have the tools to communicate with our dog now, he actually listened to us and stayed “in his place” when he needed to be. Our family member was truly stunned at how well behaved he was. We never thought we’d get that kind of compliment about our dog! Of course, we have to work at it every day – because like with anything, skills require continued practice and commitment. But if you are struggling and ready to make that life-long commitment for your dog, we’d highly, highly recommend working with Pups Maine."
"I dropped off a very anxious dog for the three week Save my Dog training. Olive was unable to regulate her behavior before I took her to Chelsea. She had fear aggression, separation anxiety and struggled to have a calm mind and body. I am thrilled with the tools Olive learned and with the time Chelsea spent teaching me how to provide Olive with the consistent environment at home to help Olive make safe choices. Chelsea taught me how to be a calm and effective leader for Olive. The difference is incredible! Thank you Chelsea!"
"10/10 for this incredible company. If you’re struggling with your dog don’t waste your time - go to the professionals! I was super impressed with the transparency and all of the information provided before we made a leap to purchase the 4-week board + train package. They are incredibly fair, kind and knowledgeable. We went in with specific asks and got all we paid for and more. They make themselves super available for any trouble shooting and really take the time to educate you. Thank you, PUPS!"
"I can not say enough good things about PUPS. When we adopted our dog as a puppy in February 2020, he showed guarding and territorial tendencies early on, and we tried to put a stop to it, but while some things got better, others got much worse. He'd been kicked out of daycare for fighting with other dogs, and early this year I was at the end of my rope after within a few weeks he'd bit a ups driver and all three of us, including our daughter. I reached out to Chelsea because something had to change and I didn't know what else to do. We enrolled him in the 4 week Save my Dog program, and in the meantime she gave us some tips on things to do that would help in the meantime. Those alone were a game changer. But the program really saved us all. PUPS was able to not only recondition and train him, but really gave us the training and knowledge we were missing to be able to be better for him. And while he may not ever be "perfect", the change we've seen in him has been amazing, and we now have the understanding and tools to continue working with him, and are living much more harmoniously. I also know I'll always be able to reach out to Chelsea with any questions or concerns I have in the future, and she really puts the effort into maintaining access for her graduates. PUPS is absolutely worth it, they are nothing short of amazing."
