"Same experience as many listed. Met by combative abrasive drunk owner, not guest friendly, filthy cabins and way over priced. Location is very loud which made this stay a complete fail. The owners should get out of the hospitality industry given the zero thoughts given to their guests and maintenence."
"This rental property was a total disappointment and we would never consider renting it again. My parents booked it for my brother and myself so that we and our families could spend some time in Maine visiting with our grandmother and extended family there. We arrived on our check-in date and my parents were promptly and rudely told that they would have to leave immediately when everyone arrived because we would be over our limit of person’s on property. Note: the limit of visitors is not on the initial rental listing!!! The owner remained abrasive despite our attempts to be understanding and friendly. Bear in mind that we are in our 40s with several children ranging from 2-15 years old, so we were not there to party. My own parents who were paying for the property could not come visit their grandchildren! So if you are renting this property in hopes of spending time with family, look elsewhere! We were also told the dog would have to remain on a 6 foot leash at all times. This was not communicated in anyway when renting the property. It is advertised as dog friendly. It is not. Now to the actual state of the property. I don’t believe the cabin had been cleaned in years. There were questionable stains on the blankets. We were warned by the property owner that the back door handle was tricky. It was clearly falling apart and when it did completely break we were blamed for it! If you know that your rental property is having issues with a door, you replace it! The camp is right next to a very busy road, so if you like your vacation with a side of emergency vehicle sirens and motorcycles, this is the place for you. Several windows upstairs were nailed shut, which is not only a safety hazard but made for very stuffy bedrooms. The dryer that you have to pay two dollars per load for does not work. Overall this was neither worth the money nor the stress of the experience. We were constantly monitored by our cranky hostess. We are grateful we had enough family to offer alternative places to escape during the day. Do not rent this place!"
"Is there an option for zero stars? From check in to departure the owners of this establishment were rude, unprofessional and downright hostile. We were greeted at check in by intoxicated persons, and extreme hostility about our dog not being on his leash (this rule is not posted or communicated anywhere, a simple please keep him on a leash would have been perfect!). After several threats to "evict" us without a refund, owner #1 retired to her dwelling only to send owner #2 up to yell some more about people, dogs and attitudes. At no point did we EVER have more guests than allowable between the two cabins rented, but this was a very sore subject with the owners. So NO additional guests to visit. The cabin itself has clearly not been updated (or cleaned) in several years. There is a fine line between quaint, quirky cottage and falling down dump. Holes in the ceiling, spider webs everywhere and furniture literally falling apart. The owners ignited us the rest of the week, walked past us in the yard and acted like we were not there. Avoidance at it's worst. After the rough start, some sort of gesture to make us feel welcomed may have made a difference.. Long post that will undoubtedly be deleted by the proprietors, but if at least one person sees this it was worth my time. I highly recommend finding alternative accomodations in the area as the lake is beautiful."
"What a great place to stay, my husband and I have stayed there many times. Accomodations keep getting better and better, Frank & Winnie have made many 1st class improvements over the years. The lake is gorgeous, very clean; nice for boating and swimming. We had plans to stay there in September and bring friends on our way to Acadia, very disappointed we had to cancel due to Maine's virus restrictions."
"Please stay away from this business. The owner is rude and abusive. I paid for a week's stay in a 'Cottage" which is really a rundown camp clustered with many other buildings, a shared beach and right on top of the road and campground marina. The 3 bedrooms are really one big room separated by curtains. The owner took my money and then did not allow me to enter the property due to my having to leave the first night to take care of an ill family member. If you want any kind of privacy or relaxation find accommodations elsewhere."
