Reviews
"We took the Monhegan tour. The boat ride was about 1 1/2 hours. The crew members were friendly and very informative. We really enjoyed our day."
"We had a wonderful time on our cruise. A nice variety of birds with a very informative guide filling us in on each species. We were thrilled to see so many puffins!"
"Hardy Boat Cruises Puffin Watch with National Audubon was fun and informative. We had a beautiful day and fairly calm seas, but sighting the puffins was challenging as the upper deck was crowded and the boat rocked. This made footing and standing difficult for cameras or binoculars. I did manage one 300mm telephone shot that zoomed in on a pair of active puffins. Overall, the guide was great and the species cards entertaining."
"Loved getting to see the puffins! My recommendation is to try to sit on the left side of the boat, as that side seemingly got much more time to face the rock where the puffins are. The Audubon tour guide was really great and helpful. Also make sure to bring your binoculars!! They are definitely a must have item to really see all the puffins. Also note that if you get car sick or nauseous easily, the boat ride will definitely make you sick. But they have bags, water, ginger chews, and other things to help. As other reviews have said, parking is annoying but the tour itself is so worth it!! If you are going north along the Maine coast from here, make sure to stop at the Project Puffin Visitor Center!"
"Great boat trip, fastest access to wildlife viewing at Egg Islands. About a 30 minute cruise from the harbor to the islands and 30 min back. The captain does a good job keeping the vessel in the lee of the island and ensuring people on both sides have an equal viewing opportunity. The parking area is remote and you are required to park in the Hardy Boat parking lot, 2/10 mile downhill to the dock where you submit your parking stub and pay $10.00 for parking. It is 2/10 of a mile back uphill to the lot. It is challenging for the mobility impaired. No shuttle service."
