"There should be negative stars for this company. These people are the worst! Do not return phone calls but make lots of promises that they are on top of things never to follow through. Apartments look like you’re renting from slumlords but they want top dollar. Had to keep calling to find out what day we could move in only to learn on a Friday that our move-in date was that Monday and not because anybody reached out to us but because we had to keep calling and asking. We asked if we could move in on Sunday instead, they say no because they’re busy cleaning and painting when in reality nobody has even touched it and the place is disgusting. Toilet covered in urine and hair, dishwasher inside filthy, bathroom sink does not drain and floods with black mold covering the interior of the base cabinet, ceiling light fixtures all missing covers so all exposed bulbs, slider handle broken so can’t open easily, ceilings covered in stains, wall covered and god knows what! Wrong code to get into the apartment on move in day so we had to use the window and have yet to get a proper code from management (unresponsive ) so door needs to be left unlocked. Grounds in front and behind the property covered in broken glass, beer bottle caps and miscellaneous trash! This place is disgusting & these people should be embarrassed that this is how they run a business to take care of college student housing."
"Living at the 260 Mast Rd apartments was the WORST RENTAL EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. Everything about these apartments is horrible. Really I would NEVER RENT FROM TORRINGTON EVER AGAIN. All of the management is rude, dismissive, and undertrained. I would not be surprised if these apartments were shut down in the future for violating tenants rights since I know that others that lived in the building were talking to lawyers to sue the company for breaking New Hampshire tenants rights."
"Terrible customer service we toured a renovated apartment that was nice but was given a completely different One that wasn’t even renovated. The hallway fire alarm was low on battery for about three weeks constantly beeping every 5 minutes. They even did tours and maintenance checks while it was dead and didn’t fix until asked. And they’re just in it for profit low quality repairs, and if you don’t buy your parking pass fast enough they’ll just sell it to some random frat kid."
"As all the others I wish I could give this place 0 stars. Our apartment was supposed to be completely "renovated" but I didn't have a door or window screen for the first month and they still charged me full rent. I am now one semester in and I still do not have a window screen. A bird actually flew into my apartment and when I called our "maintenance" i was left with a message telling me to leave a request which they never followed up on. The "new" shower also has disgusting black mold and no space to move. In addition they never completed our flooring so there are huge gaps that I repeatedly trip over. My roomates dad also had to level out our stove when we first moved in because it was tipping heavily to one side. And after months of waiting for a new door they gave me one that did not match any of the others in the unit. Whoever installed it also left a 1.5inch gap at the top. Along with all of this the managment is horrible. I was emailed about rent which they said I "didn't" pay and I had. In the email I addressed this and my missing window screen to which the manager replied rudely about the "missing" rent and has since then never addressed the window screen. Don't waste your money living here IT IS NOT worth it."
"I wish that I could rate Torrington Properties (also campus flats) 0 stars. Within the first two months of me living at 22 Garrison Ave my apartment flooded twice. The first flood was from my ceiling collapsing because their low cost, incapable construction workers do not know how to properly install water pipes. The second flood was due to their incapability to prepare the building for New England weather. They even gave construction workers keys to my apartment while my roommate and I were living there, and they would enter without any notice. As a female, men I do not know coming into my apartment unannounced was terrifying. Torrington has walked into my apartment numerous times unannounced, which is against their leasing agreement. On top of the water issues, I was having issues turning my heat on, to the point where I had to call maintenance. They sent them over and he told me it was working fine, and gave me a space heater to heat my apartment for a full two months. This caused my electricity bill to go up $100 more than usual. When I told them about my bill they told me it looked like an average bill including heat, and I had to argue with them to get any reimbursement for their mistake. This company has brought me more trouble than any other landlord in Durham. Try your best to not live in any properties owned by Torrington."
