"Horrible place. No smoke detector in the room, it had been taken down and put in a drawer, the fridge didn't work, the TV was to small, there was an old coffee packet left in the coffee pot, finger marks on the table, hair all threw the bathroom, it was so gross, and the owners son kept coming to our room asking questions that were just none of anyone's business. The lady was rude and after the room she gave me u would think that she would have been a little nicer. I guess the state pays for homeless people to stay there at times and the way she treated them was even worse. She threatened to kick someone out if they didn't do work around the place for her. Nasty place over all."
"Very lovely staff! Accommodated our request for early check-in. Rooms have very nice attached enclosed porches to sit and take in the beautiful view. We will be back!"
"Rooms were dated but clean enough. Horrible WiFi. It was the only place available for a last minute trip on Columbus Day weekend. Rudest staff I have ever encountered at a motel or hotel. The manager yelled at us to go inside at 11 pm even though my boyfriend and I were very quietly sitting on the bench outside our room, getting some air and enjoying the weather before going to bed for the night. Another employee walked around yelling “wake up” outside our room well before the 10am check out time. The teenage son treated us like we were employees. He informed us very rudely they were cleaning our room next as we were loading our car, still well before the 10am check out time. It makes sense why it was the only place in town with availability. I wouldn’t stay here again if it was free. If you go up to North Conway and there are no other places available, bring a tent."
"We stayed one night before an overnight hike. The room was clean, super quiet (I couldn’t hear the busy street or neighbors) and had everything we needed. In the morning I walked downtown for breakfast and coffee at the Met. Couldn’t have asked for a better stay and combo! The people that run Briarcliff are very kind and hard working! 10/10 *The picture is of a bald eagle I saw on my walk, the only other relevant pic I took was of the wifi + password."
"I thought the bad reviews were just those type of people who were used to more elaborate hotels, but they were right. So first thing was the comforter had a blood stain on it so not great, all though they did replace everything once we informed them so that's why I'm giving them 3 stars instead of 1 or 2. Next thing was the fact they didn't replace our bath towels every day and when we went to get new ones at the office they were always damp as if they air dried them or something. Third issue was the bathroom door didn't close because the top door hinge had loose screws, oh and the sink handles were installed the wrong way (I'll include pictures to explain what I mean) And fourth, the room in general was just kind of dirty including the chairs, countertops, and the heaters looked like they had never been vacuumed out as there was debris everywhere and given my uncle is a retired firefighter that set off a red flag for me. And last but not least they power strip they had with the gross coffee maker plugged into it didn't charge my phone properly somehow as it lost like 50 percent of its battery life in like 3 hours, but when I plugged it directly into the wall the phone held the charge all day, so there is something off about those power strips and I wouldn't plug anything expensive in them, if you plan to go to save money like we did id bring my own power strip to be safe."
