Reviews
"Shame on Fuller hospital for responding to these heartbreaking reviews with a copy/paste link. During my week in the adolescent unit I witnessed a staff member be thrown to the ground by another patient. She walked it off, but when I was discharged she was in a leg brace working in the downstairs office. She was one of the only ones there who took the time to really talk with me and get to know me, and on my way out she said something that really stuck with me. She did not deserve that kind of treatment. The same patient who attacked her also attacked other patients and was regularly pinned to the ground/injected with sedatives in full view of the entire unit. “Booty shots.” The doctor was smug, disinterested, and downright mean. I was given antipsychotic medications with no basis or explanation, which I have never been recommended by anybody outside of Fuller. I slept on what was essentially a wooden box with a wrestling mat on top. Paper thin blankets and pillows were scarce, one per patient. The other patients and I were so bored and hungry from the piss poor food that we would go through 20 bags of saltines throughout the day. All I did was play cards and watch TV. If I had not been informed of my rights by another staff member I would have been held there through Christmas. Another patient tried to take her own life. She had been there so long that her room was decorated with drawings and pictures and various things her family had sent. It was like a jail cell. I was here years ago and am so traumatized by the experience that I still check back on the reviews to this day. They remind me that what happened there was not my fault and that I am not alone in my experience. Somebody’s pockets are being filled while patients and staff are subject to inhumane conditions. Should have been shut down yesterday."
"I was lucky enough to have a few day vacation at this facility. The building itself is literally crumbling to the ground, and their medical records/patient tracking systems could be updated, but that is not the important part of an involuntary mental health sabbatical. I gave it 5 stars because of the Doctor that I had, the nurses and the staff. They were amazing. The chef was really also really accommodating with healthier options."
"This was the worst experience I have ever had with what is considered a treatment facility. The Nurse Practitioner refused to talk to my husbands current prescriber and wanted him to completely change his meds. There was absolutely no individual therapy given. My husband requested several times for me to be called and brought in on a conversation about medical stuff and they refused. Do NOT allow a loved one to attend this place. For the record this was the Partial Hospital Program."
"This place is a literal mess. Came here for help with mental problems. I don't exactly want to explain everything because of privacy but it was SO BORING here. I came for help and I felt more like I was in jail. The people who built this place did not have the patients in mind at all. They barely had any activities to do here and some of the hallways smelled gross. I cried on my first day. I genuinely thought I did something wrong to be put here. I literally only came here for help. My heart goes out to all the people who had this place as their first experience in a mental hospital because there are much much better places out there for people dealing with stuff. I would give it a 0 if I could this place was a total dump."
"I would give zero stars if it wasn't for a couple awesome staff members, mixed into a place with some horrible and evil doctors. I have never been told i have any issues with bipolar in my life and have been seen different therapists and psych doctors. I've even had a lengthy psych exam. Tutu, a Dr at fuller, required I have a shot of a powerful anti-psychotic in order to be considered for release. She diagnosed me within 2 minutes of talking. Every time I said I wanted to go home she would bring up that I sound bi polar. I was there due to substance abuse. Thank god my case worker(mixed with a scientology group..explained later) Rebeccah went to bat for me and got me an apt with another Dr that clearly and quickly saw I DO NOT have bi polar and should be immediately released. Tutu was trying to hold me for a MINIMUM of 3-4 weeks, when I was completely stable and had an out patient program already set up. As mentioned above, before meeting with Rebecca, I had to reach out to the scientology group in order to really make sure I was listened to and not stuck in there. They reached out to fuller immediately, but required I had an outside rep(family member) contact them. I'm not fully sure if it was the scientology group or just Rebecca, but I was out in a day from after contacting them. Just as an FYI to people. I forget the name, but wish I had it. Look it up. They help with exactly this issue. Also the majority of people at fuller were there for at least a month and in the same situation they were trying to put me in. I am literally terrified of getting put there ever again, but have been clean for over 4 months now and hope that won't ever happen. What a terrible place. They need to be shut down!!!! Also, she told me if I went to court for my 3 day I would likely end up stuck there for 3+ months instead, scaring me into removing it. The next doctor told me there was no way a judge would have kept me any longer, but I had already rescinded paperwork. Please, if you have a choice, don't go there. No joke, at all. This is months later and I'm still traumatized. I still feel so sad for others that are there without outside support. * wanted to say that the majority of staff that I enjoyed actually agreed that the place was horrible. Rebecca did not say this, but she highly disagreed with Tutu and had my back. Thank God for there staff that were human and didn't look at me like I was money. *the response I got makes me think you didn't fully read my review. The hospital is horrible. I said nothing good other than that there were a few good staff members. The place itself should be shut down. You are punishing those people by putting then in a place that is worse than jail in many ways. You can't even use the bathroom without asking!! There were times I had to go really bad and couldn't find anyone to open the door!! That's not ok!"
