"It has caught to my attention that Forest Properties has used this pandemic to exploit current residents while dropping their rents to compete with the other complexes in the same area. There are couple of us who were enticed to sign a renewal - what they called a ‘lower’ price at the time - in mid March, right when the mass student body started to vacant the city. This was at least 150 days before our move-in date, September 1st. I knew for a fact and confirmed that we only needed to respond 60 days in advance according to the signed agreement. I found out that their current renting prices listed online has dropped at least $200 per unit per month. I confirmed this with an incoming tenant whose rent was $1600.00 for a studio, while all of us who signed the renewal had to pay at least $1775 in comparison for the same unit. I stormed into their office with a friend on Tuesday and confronted them with this finding. They were too ashamed to give me a direct answer and looked away as I questioned why they sent out the renewal this early, as if they knew the price would drop, and they tried their very best to hold onto the the last straws that they could exploit. I demanded them to lower our ‘renewed’ rent and they promised to give us a call. Another thing is that they provided the option of transferring to a different unit in a recent email. I found it ridiculous because it means if you choose to do so, technically you can also pay $200.00 less per month. This is not a small sum for a whole year. I would rather do something else useful with $200.00 per month. The call of course, never came, and I knew they probably hoped I’d just let it go: sorry, I won’t. Most of us are master’s students who knew that a 2nd-year lease is necessary. They took advantage of this and hoped we would not find out their little scheme. I don’t expect them to really give us an answer since we did sign the lease ourselves ‘voluntarily’, perhaps with a little pressure, but I don’t want more people to fall for their tricks again!"

"I would give zero stars if that were possible. Definitely do not rent from this company, they ignore all maintenance requests including urgent issues. I have never encountered worse customer service, my calls are never answered and many appliances and plumbing implements have been broken for months."
