Swinburne Skating Rink

"This is a great skating rink in the heart of Albany. Easy to get to, plenty of off street parking. When you enter, simply lay down your dollar bill and skate (if you have your own skates…). One dollar; the price is awesome! Skate rentals are available for a few bucks more. The ice is kept clean, the rink staff keep the skaters orderly, and the music that bumps along there is good. The changing hut is warm, and there are a few cubbies to store your stuff, but I just keep my shoes under the bench. Would be 5 stars, but sometimes the rink is randomly closed, even when the online hours are posted as “open.” So call ahead and make sure the public skate session for that time is happening. Also, the smell of weed near the entrance is a bit much. Sure, you get a bunch of high school kids at the front desk and they’re likely to sneak off now and then for a toke. But it’s a little much. All in all, this is a solid place to skate. Good ice, good folks, good music, and super affordable."

"Great spot! Took our 2 kids to open skate during Christmas break.. 3pm they were still setting up the ice but we got our skates and were on the ice by 3:30. Fun music, everyone was friendly.. Parking on site, you need to walk around the building and enter on the playground side. This is a great community resource. Thanks Albany Rec!"

"Would never go back this place again, there are no security cameras on the premises. I found this out just recently after a friend's car got broken into and got all their belongings stolen. The police could not do much since there were no security cameras to help identify those responsible. If there are no security cameras around your safety cannot be guaranteed which is deeply concerning. If you're going to have a space open to the public at least have security cameras to ensure safety and prevent crime."

"Indoor-ish ice skating for VERY cheap. You really can't beat the prices of skating and ice skate rentals here. Excellent bang per buck, and really nothing to complain about."
