Reviews of Upscale Resale
"Great selection of antique and high quality/gently used home furnishings. I found the prices to be quite reasonable, and the owner very helpful. She has reached out on a couple of occasions to provide me with more information about a rug and a couple of paintings that I was interested in buying. One thing that I like about this shop is that the owner weeds through the junk for you. There is nothing in the space that I would consider junk. I cannot say the same for other area establishments."
"Lots of beautiful things! Today was my first time here and loved it. Got an old coffee grinder in excellent condition for a very good price"
"I am not sure what those other reviewers are talking about. The owner is a very pleasant and helpful woman who knows a lot about the things she is selling. She has a constantly changing inventory of very interesting things, priced accordingly. Some are inexpensive and some are expensive. If there is a structural issue with any item, it is noted and reflected in the price. She has always been totally helpful and even arranged for her husband to help with delivery and assembly of a table for us. I drop in whenever I am in the area just to chat. She keeps a book of requests from customers so she can keep her eye out if you are looking for something special. I have loved everything I bought there, and usually find at least one treasure with every visit. It is my favorite consignment store. We have furnished a lot of our house from this one place."
"Owner is very rude and lazy old bag!! Yelled at my 3 year old for struggling to open the door to come in!"
"I have come here a few times and today was the first time I actually found something I was interested in. Now, for starters the items in this store are pretty pricey, usually at a consignment shop you can bargain and get a lower price. Well, there was this silver plated incense burner that started out a little over 100 dollars and was marked down 3 times which means it's been there a long time. Well, the price on it today was 30 dollars... they didn't clean it, it still had ashes in it from the original owner and was tarnished... I walked up to the ship owner and asked if she could give me the burner for $20 ... She looked at me with a disgusted smile and replied with a very snide "no" . I felt instantly insulted and realized that this is not the type of consignment shop that appreciates customers. I usually shop at The Emporium in Swansea Ma and have always been able to bargain for USED items. Something a consignment shop owner needs to realize is that people are there essentially purchasing a strangers TRASH. They've finally decided to get rid of their stuff and they're looking to get some money for it. If you are lucky enough to find someone to buy it why be greedy and insult an interested purchaser. I will never step foot in this shop again and I wouldn't advise anyone else to either. The owner is rude and not welcoming at all.... If someone is throwing something away and clearly can't sell it anywhere else, take the offer... especially if you have already marked it down 3 times ... it started at a little over a hundred dollars and is now at $30... what's another 10 dollars? It will still be there in a month and will probably end up selling for 10!"
