Reviews
"Boston Medical Center Pharmacy Residency program provided me with many unique diverse opportunities to expand my pharmacotherapy skillset while working with a culturally and socioeconomically diverse underserved patient population. Having gone through the program myself some key opportunities at this program include working and learning at a large urban academic medical center, a multitude of rotation options including the #1 busiest ED in the northeast as well as various ICU options, 24 hour on-call, and working alongside preceptors who are regarded as leaders in their respective fields. One differentiation factor of this residency is the completion of a year long Quality Improvement Project using the IHI model for improvement instead of standard "research". While the residency program is rigorous, it is well balanced with a REST (Resident Emotional Support Team) committee to allow residents and preceptors to get to know one another and provide much needed down time while attending group outings such as apple picking in the fall. This residency program also has many PGY-2 offerings including Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, Hematology-Oncology, Infectious Disease, Ambulatory Care, and in 2019 Internal Medicine. PGY1s can early commit to these programs which is a nice feature. One downside is BMC does not have a very large pediatric department, though they do have rotation offerings in a small NICU (~15 beds), PICU (~8 beds), and pediatrics floor. If you want a more robust pediatrics experience, BMC may not be the most ideal choice. However, if you are looking for a pharmacy residency that will provide you with the skillset to tackle any problem, be a leader in your field and propel your career forward, look no further."
