Ten Essex

"This was a great apartment! Nice furnishings and the kitchen was outfitted with everything we needed for our stay. Plenty of towels, pillows, and blankets. They did an excellent job thinking through what a guest needs for their stay. The building is safe, secure and very clean. The apartment has a great location and within walking distance of Harvard, MIT and Boston. Transportation is easily accessible as well. Anytime we had a question or any problems they were taken care of and addressed immediately. Everyone was courteous, helpful and extremely friendly. We would definitely book Ten Essex again!"

"Updating this with a note about the other reviews on here. There must be an incentive for tenants to post positive reviews because there are 5 star reviews from folks I know have had terrible experiences. Yes Tracey is fantastic, but unfortunately that doesn’t change the fact that the building is a total mess. Also, here is how the management communicated with us - on Christmas Day - regarding the flood in the garage. “For those who are unaware, there was a flood in the 10 Essex St garage this morning. Any cars in the garage will have suffered serious damage. You should contact your insurance agency at your earliest convenience.“ ——————————— 10 Essex is a brand new building in a fantastic location in central square and moving in when it opened in September 2019 seemed like a great decision. My experience with my particular unit started off awful and only got worse. While the management has been recently changed, the building as a whole has had so many inherent issues from day 1. There have been leaks in multiple units and throughout the building that have not or cannot be fixed. The basement garage flooded on Christmas and all of the cars in it suffered major damage. The elevator for this 6 floor building was out of service completely for 2 months and communication around this issue was non-existent. There have been multiple malfunctions of the alarm system where the alarm sounded at full volume regularly for multiple days. Everyone I have spoken to in the building has had negative experiences of varying degrees, with multiple other residents attempting to gather the tenants together to take collective action. There aren't really any reviews of this building, I think because when people move out they just want to be done with it."

"We have lived at Ten Essex for the past two years, and we absolutely love it. It's convenience + luxury all in one. The location is great, right near the Red Line, Target, HMart, Whole Foods, etc. Every unit has a gorgeous kitchen, in-unit laundry, central air/heating. Not only that, but as other reviewers mentioned, Tracey and Kirk are AMAZING and take such good care of the tenants and the property. It's like living at a hotel. Kirk is so helpful, and will come by within an hour of reaching out to help with any maintenance issues or questions. Tracey is super responsive, and answers any and all questions, and handles all of the logistics at the property. They also recently added a free gym membership at the gym next door for all tenants! We love coming home to Ten Essex."

"Amending this because Tracey and Kirk are still great, but unfortunately the building at 10 Essex failed to make clear very important stipulations in the lease which cost me over $1500 in a security deposit. Originally, I chose 10 Essex because of its wonderfully convenient location (the red line is literally right outside the door and there is also a bluebike rack outside) and for its modern accommodations. I don't know why the other two reviews here are so overwhelmingly negative, but I personally have had nothing but the best experience since I moved in about a week ago. Tracey, Kirk and the rest of the maintenance team are wonderful. I don't know if they are part of the new team at 10 Essex following whatever events happened prior to my arrival, but I can assure you that they really go above and beyond to make sure that current tenants feel welcome. Kirk, who is part of the maintenance team, has helped me retouch the paint on my walls, put up artworks, fix my shower, and assemble my couch among various other miscellaneous tasks. Tracey responds within minutes -- even on the weekends, and is super helpful and accommodating. She even gave me a $50 dollar gift card to the bike store which I used to purchase a high quality lock to secure my bike in the bike storage area located downstairs in the building. I highly recommend living here and really appreciate all the help they have extended to me!"

"So far the building has been amazing and the on-site team, especially Tracey, are incredible! The apartments are super well located with the Red line 1 minute away and it’s right off of a street with lots of shops, restaurants, bars, etc. Great vibe! Inside it’s modern with high quality specs and the shared rooftop has gorgeous views. The team has really been the stand out for me though versus anywhere else I’ve lived. Tracey has been so helpful, arranging for packages (even a mattress) to be put inside my apt for safekeeping while I was gone, extra keys, and being incredibly responsive and so lovely! Highly recommend to anyone moving to Cambridge!"
