Reviews of The Viridian
"MICE! MICE! MICE! Management Company: Furnished Quarters (via Airbnb) My wife and I rented an apartment at The Viridian (1282 Boylston) in Boston while I was completing an internship at Harvard. We paid a premium price for this unit ($6000 USD/month) with the hopes of being central and being able to cook at home. Unfortunately, the unit we rented had mice and we woke up to droppings on the countertops, TV stand, and floor. They had also gotten into the pantry and made their way through the dried goods. The evening we saw the mice ourselves, it ran under the fridge which left us with no option to throw out all of the groceries we had purchased. We contacted the company and they mentioned they had no other units available, but after a day or so they found one in the same building. We packed up and moved there only to find this unit had the most pungent smell that was unbearable to stay in. After another day they provided another unit which we moved into. We have now found mice droppings again. We had a personal call with one of the owners of the company and he was completely unsympathetic. He told us throwing out the food was extreme and we should have actually known better than to put food in the pantry. He said in his own home he stores food in metal storage containers, yet no such instructions or storage containers were provided to us. It became impossible to feel comfortable in the unit and definitely could not eat in the unit. All units provided as options are in the same building, and clearly, no one unit alone would have mice, it would be a building issue. Very disappointed with the service overall, especially at this price point. Avoid Furnished Quarters"
"I have been living here for the past two years. Let me share with you the pros and cons of living in here. Starting with the positives, the location of The Viridian is simply unbeatable. It offers easy access to everything Boston has to offer. Building has amazing rooftop, it provides an amazing view where you can even watch games and concerts. The building staff at The Viridian deserves a special mention they are consistently kind and helpful. Additionally, I have been fortunate to have friendly and respectful neighbors, many of whom are medical professionals working and training in Boston. However, it has some drawbacks. One issue I've encountered is occasional noise disturbances. The building offers short-term rentals, which can lead to increased foot traffic. Another aspect that falls short of expectations is the size of the gym. Lastly, parking at The Viridian is quite expensive for residents. It would be more cost-effective for residence. Overall my experience is good."
"I had the most amazing experience staying at the Viridian. I lived there for a year and would’ve definitely continued staying if I didn’t have to move to another city. Both the leasing office and maintenance team are top notch and always willing to help. The apartment feels safe, has excellent amenities, is in a great location and had the best views. I truly enjoyed my experience staying at the Viridian."
"Do not rent here! Especially medical residents/fellows who are training in Boston for the year, this company will rob you. Very unreasonable and incompetent management. Examples: 1) The property management, particularly the property manager Rebecca Aldrich is completely useless. I guess that's what you get when you hire someone with a degree in early childhood and elementary education to run the building. For instance, she tried to claim that I did not provide a last month's rent cheque. I had to show her physical proof that I paid this. Then I asked for my interest on my last month's rent cheque, and she claimed that all the interest that had been made in 15 months was 11 cents! She refused to provide the banking information where the money was held for me to verify the interest rate (which is what legally must be done). 2) I sold my furniture to a new tenant who was moving in on July 1st. I was moving out June 30th. I asked Rebecca if I could leave the furniture in my unit for the night for this new tenant. Rebecca was very rude and condescending and refused. However two things anger me about this: 1-I knew the renter who was living in the unit that the new tenant was moving into. She left the unit vacant as of June 15th, and despite my and the new tenant's permission, they would not let me leave the furniture in the unit. Second, no one was moving into my unit until September. It's clear that management just treats you like a number as I don't think my request is unreasonable. I would never recommend anyone to live here. Honestly, save your hard earned money and rent elsewhere. I wish I did."
"We lived in one of the city's "affordable" units in the building. Generally, we found the quality of the building materials and finishes to be very poor. It looked pretty, but there was a sense that it had been rushed to be built as quickly as possible. The maintenance staff there is amazing, and they are constantly working to maintain and fix many of the original builder's rushed jobs. The concierge staff, too, was always very friendly and up for a chat. Management tended to be very inflexible, especially when we needed to move out and break out lease. A $4,000 early termination fee seems quite excessive for an affordable unit."
