"This was my first visit to The Standard and I will definitely put it at the top of my list for any return visits to NYC. I found the room prices reasonable by NYC standards for a nice, clean, comfortable and quiet room with a great view. Front desk service was very welcoming and friendly and the hotel has a fun & stylish vibe without being pretentious. I had a corner king room on the 15th floor. The room wasn't large or spacious, but wasn't cramped either. It had a tiny desk and office space or "nook" that was separate from the sleeping area. Note that the rooms do not provide items found in large chain/family-oriented hotels such as ironing boards, coffee machines or microwave ovens. The room had a nicely stocked mini bar with small refrigerator plus in-room safe. Location is very convenient to the #6 subway, Astor Place stop. Food and drinks from the cafe were good."
"This was our second time staying at this location and we will be staying again (hopefully soon). The decor is swanky. The rooms are perfectly sized. The multitude of bar/restaurant options within the hotel are a huge draw, but the location and proximity to all we wish to do in the East Village is what keeps us coming back. Everyone is nice and happy and always willing to help or hold a door."
"This is a FANTASTIC hotel. I would absolutely stay here again and will be recommending to others. The staff is fabulous (I was helped many times by Christina, Cory, Lydia, and others whose names I don't know unfortunately). Everything was clean, and the whole hotel is very chic, unique, and cute. Really fun place to stay. Had a great view from our room without even paying extra, and got to stay on the 12th floor per my call-in request prior to be on a higher floor if possible. Each floor is very small, maybe like 8 rooms(??), so it was really very quiet! The club and restaurants on the lobby floor did not create any noise for us from our rooms either! Ordered lots of room service from the cafe, the avocado toast and the burger were both fantastic, and they have GLUTEN FREE both toast and buns!! (The food was ofc quite pricey for me, but it's an NYC hotel, so it's expected). Front desk often held things for me when I was rushing out quickly and didn't want to go back up to my room to put something away (like an extra jacket), and also held our bags for free after checkout. CONS: (very minimal and wouldn't stop me from staying here again) But there were some basic things lacking in the room, like a microwave or hot water maker, that would have really added to the convenience of our trip. Though lovely, some of the bathroom design was impractical: there were no shelves or surfaces in the shower to put your toiletries on, and there was nowhere to put your towel within reach for getting out of the shower. Overall, highly recommend, and thank you to the wonderful staff and establishment of The Standard East Village!"
"If you like eclectic NYC hotels with convenient access to the subway and short walks...this hotel would fit you well. I can't say there's anything that tremendously liked or disliked about this place. It has a cosmopolitan vibe to it, a convenient bar/eatery downstairs and the staff was very accommodating and friendly. My room, for the amount of money being paid, however was not to my expectation. Essentially paying ~$500/night for a well dressed dorm room. ;) It was comfortable but the view and the size just wasn't my thing nor value."
"My partner and I live in Queens, spent two nights at the Standard East Village right after getting engaged. Some of the reviews on here made me nervous mostly because of the higher price point I just really wanted everything to be worth it. I have to say our experience was incredible. We'll never forget it. I let them know ahead of time that that I was going to propose before coming, they had a lot to offer in terms of adding flowers and wine to the room before we got there. They even bumped us up to a corner suite and included a charcuterie board in the room free of charge. The view was unreal, the AC worked great, everything was clean and comfortable. Room service was quick and easy, everyone who worked there was lovely. We had brunch in the garden with friends the morning after we arrived and it was great. Between the garden, the cafe, and the bar every location was calm and beautiful, the food and drinks were all great. The exact location is relatively quiet but the surrounding neighborhood has a lot going on so there's plenty to do. It's definitely not cheap, for us it would only work for very special occasions like this one, but staying here was so special and made for a weekend we'll remember for the rest of our lives."
