"This was a very pleasant stay and I’d gladly stay there again in the future. I needed to have a Zoom meeting during my stay, which required quiet space, and their library was perfect. I enjoyed all of their shared spaces, because they are warm and welcoming. The staff were all friendly and professional, helping with anything I asked. If you need inexpensive accommodations with great proximity to downtown and the metro rail system, this is a great spot."
"I come through from Ohio to Maine, it's a perfect location near Boston Common, Harvard, and China town. Walking easily to t stations. A shared room is easily affordable, clean, very bright colorful ND fun atmosphere. Each time I've stayed twice, have never had anyone in my bunk room."
"I stayed in a 6-bed male room. The experience was great - the bunk beds face the wall so you don't have to look at others when you sleep. Also, there is ample room for you to keep your personal belongings in the shared space. The lockers are the tall type so you can store large personal belongings inside. Each floor has multiple individual bathrooms and each comes with a shower and a toilet - very convenient! The hostel provides breakfast, which is pretty decent. The community kitchen is spacious and the seating arrangement facilitates interactions between guests. My friend actually met his girlfriend in the community kitchen! The hostel is located in a very convenient location. Easy access to Chinatown and the subway. A train ride to Harvard University is around 15 minutes. There are plenty of eateries around the hostel. This is a great hostel and I will stay here again."
"A truly pleasant stay at HI Boston! Before arriving, I had some concerns about the room temperature based on previous reviews. However, to my relief, I found the dorm room warm and cozy throughout my stay. The staff at HI-Boston deserves a special mention for their kindness and helpfulness. They really made a difference in creating a welcoming atmosphere. Additionally, the hostel offers great amenities like open/shared kitchen access, which I found very convenient. The range of activities organized for guests was a delightful way to meet new people and enjoy my stay. The only hiccup I encountered was with the key card. My card was frequently deactivated due to accidental contact with my phone or the magnetic parts of my bag. Despite my efforts to be cautious, I ended up needing to reactivate my card almost daily. Despite this minor issue, my overall experience at HI-Boston was fantastic, and I would definitely recommend it to others looking for a comfortable and friendly place to stay in Boston."
"My 3-night stay at HI Boston went very well. It's a functional hotel, admittedly not very modern, but it does the job for a weekend in Boston. The price is indeed high compared with other cities, but you have to bear in mind that Boston is a very expensive city. I had no problems in the 6-girl dormitory: the lockers are big enough, the toilets and bathroom are outside the room, which limits noise, and the doors are heavy (and therefore slam when you're not careful) but they isolate you from the noise of the corridor. The only problem was that it was cold when I was there and I had the bed next to the window. The thin blanket wasn't enough, so if you've got room I'd advise you to bring thick sweaters in winter. In terms of reception, the staff were welcoming and it is specified that cards must not be put in contact with the telephone to avoid being demagnetized. Breakfast was simple but sufficient (different kinds of bread, cereals, yoghurt, coffee/tea/juice, jam, butter... and then pancakes/porridge depending on the day). The hotel is ideally located, right in the city center, so you can do everything on foot. It's right at the entrance to Chinatown, and as it's right next to the main shopping street, it doesn't seem dangerous when you go out at night. You can leave your suitcase free of charge on check-out day, so you can still enjoy the day. Rooms and bathrooms are cleaned regularly."
