"I recently purchased a 2023 Scout from Shorts. The team was professional and prompt in our communication. I drove from out of state to take delivery of the vessel and upon arrival everything was in order. The team was ready at 9am for a sea trial in 35 degree weather to ensure everything was in working order. They couldn't have been more accommodating. Overall the process was nice and easy. I would recommend."
"Boat owners beware. Chris the service manager and their service department staff, not only stole articles from my vessel, but were unable to adequately repair my boat. The service manager, Chris, is an incompetent thief. I would suggest you take your boat to a perfect stranger who knows nothing about boat repair, you will have better luck getting your boat back in satisfactory condition that way. Worst experience in my life for boat service and repair. Happy Thanksgiving."
"I have to echo what many others have said. The buying process was great, (hence the 2-star and not 1-star) but the customer service is literally the worst I have ever experienced. They don't respond to e-mails, are rude on the phone, do not care about your business. Read the reviews before you buy here. Was planning on using them for winterization, storage, motor work etc. every year, they've lost my business for life. Update: Here's a great example of how to make a customer feel like they don't matter: You have all of my information, but you don't call me after a 2-star review. You make it seem like you care by putting the responsibility on me to call you. No thanks. I have honestly wasted enough of my time trying to deal with Short's. I rarely leave reviews, and all the ones I have left before are 5-star. I waited months to post this because I wanted to make sure that's how I really felt. No need to call me, I have already found another marina to give my business to. Just look up our information for who sold us the boat. That's the person who lost you my business."
"I recently purchased my brand new custom Bennington from Shorts . While the buying process was nice and easy it’s been hell ever since ! Their communication and customer service is absolutely horrendous, you call and try to speak to someone and no one knows anything about what’s going on . A brand new boat and fuel gauge doesn’t work first day of putting it in the water ! Had to give follow up calls to see if and when that issue would be fixed. Fast forward to middle of July just 3 months after putting the boat in the water the radio stops working. Again call Short’s, tells me it’s gonna be about 2-3 weeks to have someone come fix it (they informed me they only have ONE guy that can service the boat. I follow up 2 weeks later after NO communication whatsoever only to find out that someone would contact me. 2 weeks go by and surprise NO ONE has contacted me about the issue. Here we are a MONTH later and still NO phone call or contact from there! I also called Bennington themselves because of some rust issues , they assured me they sent those parts to Short’s to be replaced on my behalf a MONTH ago ! Still haven’t had those parts replaced or a phone call regarding them. Also not to mention that after paying for 3 coats of bottom paint we magically had barnacles not long after putting the boat in the water. Also have a tremendous amount of barnacles in the water well near my motor. To top everything off I than received a secure link to go make a payment to them for a “service call” . Buyers beware ! They are quick to take your money when you purchase the boat but their customer service after you sign on the dotted line is absolutely awful and nonexistent! I would warn anyone doing business with them to be careful what you “think” your getting versus what you actually get."
"Staff is friendly, but false information ended up wasting my time and the possibility of running my skis again this summer. Called service, told them my ski year, model, and problem. I was headed home that weekend and preferred to have them serviced in Delaware rather than taking them to PA to have it done. Service department confirmed they could work on the skis and to drop them off to be worked on in 2 weeks. I then got a call today from service saying they don't work on 2 strokes as of last year, even though I was told they could be worked on previously. Just an overall big head ache and disappointment in the end. I know that it was probably an honest mistake of the person who answered the phone initially, but it still is impactful to the customer in the end."
