Dr. Joseph Canarie is the Medical Director of Anchor Health's HIV Prevention & Treatment Program, located at 2200 Whitney Avenue in Hamden, Connecticut. Dr. Canarie is a board-certified physician in internal medicine and pediatrics, offering comprehensive primary and preventative care to patients, including gender-affirming medicine, HIV prevention and care, hepatitis C treatment, and more. Dr. Canarie studied under Anchor Health's cofounder during his residency at Yale New Haven Hospital, where he learned the importance of competent care for LGBTQ individuals. He is also a clinical instructor in pediatrics at the Yale School of Medicine, teaching residents the fundamentals of LGBTQ-competent care. Dr. Canarie lives in New Haven with his husband and enjoys running, choral concerts, organic gardening, and learning new languages. The institution is currently accepting new patients and offers telemedicine services in addition to its locations in Hamden and Stamford.
