About the Business
The New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG) is a prominent civil legal services organization located at 100 Pearl Street in New York City. Founded in 1990, NYLAG is dedicated to fighting economic, racial, and social injustice by providing advocacy for individuals facing poverty or crisis situations.
With a focus on assisting asylum seekers, NYLAG offers free legal resources for New Yorkers navigating government benefit hearings. The organization operates community sites across NYC and serves immigrants from 196 different countries, providing support for asylum claims and deportation defense.
Testimonials from clients express gratitude for the hope and new opportunities NYLAG attorneys have provided. The organization emphasizes the importance of understanding the root causes of struggles faced by unhoused individuals, rather than simply accepting the status quo.

"It is a great legal services provider."
"Do not expect help from this aid. She absolutely worked against me and worked hand in hand with landlord attorneys. ZARA FEINGOLD "worked with me" but would disappear days at a time and appear the day before a court hearing pressuring me to leave work to get affidavits notarized. I understand they are here to help but she did the opposite of that, every time. My anxiety was over the roof because of this woman. I was just given this attorney. All i expected was proper communication and support. They do not care, she worked against me, lied to me and gaslighted me, laughed at me with the landlord's attorney. She would run things with them instead of truly helping and supporting me and allowing the judge to decide. 0 stars, horrible attorney. I hope NYLAG finds better attorneys who truly work FOR the people of NY."
"Don’t expect help from here anymore. I had an exceptional attorney help me years ago named Rebecca Julie, she was kind, thoughtful and truly understood how socioeconomic factors directly effect individual people. The new aides they have today are rude and callous and will make promises to call and then just disappear from the face of the Earth while you’re mid crisis."
"They are very helpful and kind, very respectful, they help a lot of immigrants. They have helped us a lot, some of which they doing for us, very good legal advice, as well as planning and showing us the ways, as well as introducing good lawyers in other areas of law. I am very grateful to them for everything they have done for us."
"My attorney my representing attorney came to my house and went upstairs to the owner. My attorney tried to have me arrested by lying to a criminal attorney. My attorney would send my videos to the owners attorney. My head attorney for NYLAG MrJustin Brown is a LIAR he's come to the house to be with the owner oh and the drugs that's done. My Attorney is a two faced lying creep. I have children he tried to get me arrested! All my videos to exonerate me where sent to the owners Attorney. There is no such thing as legal help, it's a lie. They don't care there here to make sure you loose no matter what!"
