Welcome to Tamatea High School, located on Freyberg Avenue in Napier, New Zealand. At Tamatea High School, our vision is to grow good people for a changing world. We believe in providing our rangatahi and tamariki with the skills and knowledge they need to create a positive future.

One of our main goals is to ensure that our students have meaningful career pathways. We understand that each student has different strengths and learns at their own pace. Our dedicated teachers take an active interest in understanding and supporting our students to set their own learning goals. We want to empower our rangatahi to thrive in an ever-changing world.

We provide coaching to help students choose a pathway that aligns with their strengths, interests, and future plans. This includes developing their academic skills such as critical thinking, creativity, and practical skills, as well as fostering resilience, cultural understanding, and values that prepare them for life beyond school.

For students with specific learning needs, we offer tailored supported learning programs to provide extra support and assistance.

Our 2021 Leavers' Data showcases the success of our students. The majority of our Year 12 and Year 13 leavers directly enter employment, while many others choose to attend our local tertiary education provider, EIT, where they pursue certificate or diploma courses. Some students even venture further afield to attend university.

We invite you to explore our academic analysis and achievement reports, which highlight our students' accomplishments in NCEA, as well as in our Junior School Literacy (e-asTTle) and Numeracy (Lomas) testing. These reports are filled with encouraging results that demonstrate the progress our students have made, even amidst the disruptions caused by COVID-19.

We are incredibly proud of our tamariki and their achievements, particularly in the face of challenges brought about by the pandemic. It is a testament to their adaptability and determination.
