Central City Karate

Welcome to Central City Karate, located at 9 Eveleyn Couzins Avenue in Christchurch, New Zealand. My name is Cory Reedy, and I have been dedicated to the practice of Martial Arts since I was 11 years old. Throughout my 30 years of experience, I have primarily studied Karate and Ninjitsu, and have had the privilege of training individuals from various backgrounds, including children and women's self-defense classes.

I believe that Martial Arts should be practiced for the right reasons, which is why I strive to instill in my students the values of discipline, self-awareness, and confidence. As a continuous learner myself, I regularly travel to Japan and other countries to further my studies and bring back new knowledge and techniques to share with my students.

At Central City Karate, we offer a range of classes suitable for all levels of experience. Whether you are a beginner looking to try out a new sport or an experienced practitioner wanting to enhance your skills, our professional and positive environment is the perfect place for you to train and grow.

In addition to our regular classes, we also offer specialized courses for children. These classes aim to develop their confidence, body awareness, and situational awareness, empowering them to make wise decisions in various social and physical situations. As they progress through the ranks, they will acquire the necessary skills to excel in any other sports they may pursue.

For those interested in self-defense, we provide a basic course that focuses on identifying potential threats, learning locks, holds, and escapes, and developing good decision-making and tactical skills. In some cases, these courses are offered free of charge, with certain conditions applying.

At Central City Karate, our ultimate goal is to equip you with the knowledge and skills of both standard martial arts and combat martial arts, enhancing your self-confidence and self-awareness along the way.
