Nova Montessori School
About the Business
Welcome to Nova Montessori School and Early Childhood Centre, located at Christchurch, Owles Terrace, 53. Nova Montessori School is a renowned establishment and point of interest in New Zealand.
The institution has a rich history, starting in 1988 when Marsha Morgan and Pauline Matsis founded the Garden Montessori School, the first Montessori Primary School in the South Island. As the school grew, it evolved and became known as the Ripple Educational Community and eventually Nova Montessori Primary School. Over the years, the school expanded and established two locations by 2002.
The foundation of Nova Montessori School is deeply rooted in the vision of Maria Montessori, who was born in 1870. Throughout her early years, she displayed a strong interest in science and engineering and aspired to become a medical doctor. Despite facing gender-based discrimination, Montessori persisted and gained entry into Medical School. Her determination and passion for education laid the groundwork for the Montessori method.
At Nova Montessori School, we focus on providing a nurturing environment for children aged three to six. In the original Italian, Dr Maria Montessori coined the term "casa dei bambini," which translates to Children's House. We use this term to highlight that our Montessori preschool is not merely a "pre" school, but a relevant and important part of a child's educational journey.
Maria Montessori's vision for Primary education, also known as Cosmic Education, emphasizes holistic learning. We strive to engage children's imagination by connecting their studies to the evolutionary narrative of the universe and life. Our aim is to create a coherent and meaningful context for each area of study, fostering a love for learning and a deep understanding of the world around us.
Nova Montessori School is not just an institution; it is a community and a home for our students. It is a place where lifelong friendships are formed, where families come together to support and participate in their children's education. Liam and Jemma, along with their parents, have cherished their time at Nova, as it has provided countless opportunities for shared experiences and involvement in their children's learning journey.
Join us at Nova Montessori School, where we strive to create an environment that nurtures enthusiasm, love for learning, and a sense of belonging. We invite you to be a part of our community, where education goes beyond the classroom, and lifelong memories are made.

Reviews
"An inspiring learning environment for preschool and primary aged children."
"What better educational experience would you want for your child? Each child is treated with respect, compassion, and given the opportunity to grow at their own pace. Exceptionally empathic and caring teachers and culture. This school set our youngest up for success."
"When my fiancé and myself make the move to NZ we will sent our kids here! $5000-$6000 is cheap compared to $10k+ in the U.S."
"Great Montessori school that lets children reach their full potential. The review from Elena Moses regarding fees is incorrect. It is about $5000-6000 per year, not per term. Much lower than most private schools."
