As a part of the New Zealand Kindergartens Te Pūtahi Kura Puhou o Aotearoa, our institution has been an integral part of New Zealand society for many years. At Bassett Street Free Kindergarten, we prioritize the education and development of our children. Our teaching staff is 100% qualified, ensuring that your child receives the best possible education. Our teachers are registered and adhere to the same legislation and code of practice as teachers in schools. We believe in maintaining ongoing development trends in the early childhood education sector, and we work closely with Early Childhood Leadership and other peak bodies to advance our shared agendas.

As a Not-For-Profit Incorporated Society and registered charity, we are governed by a board comprised of elected and appointed members. We follow best practice governance through the adoption of the New Zealand Institute of Directors' Four Pillars methodology. We are a member-led organization representing 14 local Kindergarten Associations, each governed by a board of elected and appointed members.

Our operating hours are from late January to Thursday 14 April, and from Monday 17 October to late December. Please check with your local association for specific dates.
