Aratupu Preschool and Whānau Hub

Welcome to Aratupu Preschool and Whānau Hub, a magical place located at 97 Harewood Road in Christchurch, New Zealand. At Aratupu, we believe in creating a nurturing environment where children can play, learn, and explore their unique passions and strengths.

Our dedicated team of kaiako (teachers) utilize exploratory play and evidence-based education strategies to foster natural curiosity and a passion for discovery in every Aratupu child. We understand that each child develops at their own pace, which is why our holistic approach allows for individual growth and development.

One of the highlights of Aratupu is our incredible outdoor area, providing ample space for children to run, grow, and connect with nature. We also recognize that raising a child often requires support from a community, which is why we encourage drop off, pick up, and weekly coffee gatherings as opportunities for connection. Our kaiako are always available for a chat, and you can also meet Bridget, our dedicated whānau support.

At Aratupu, we prioritize the emotional well-being of tamariki (children) and empower them to express and manage their emotions. We encourage them to take risks, think outside the box, and foster a love for numeracy and literacy. We also celebrate identity and culture, championing each child's unique background. Movement and independence are highly encouraged, allowing children to develop essential skills.

Our kaiako truly know the children well, respecting and valuing them for who they are and where they are in their development. With their big hearts, knowledge, and experience, our teachers provide a responsive environment where tamariki are empowered to grow and develop in their own way and at their own pace.
