Kidsfirst Kindergartens Halswell

Welcome to Kidsfirst Kindergartens Halswell, located in Christchurch on Halswell Road. Our purpose-built kindergarten offers large learning spaces both inside and out, allowing children to engage with nature and challenge their physical capabilities.

At Kidsfirst Halswell, we believe in creating an environment that fosters exploration and discovery. Our teaching team regularly changes and adapts equipment and resources to meet the individual needs of each child. Inside the kindergarten, we provide areas where children and teachers can solve problems and learn to persist. Through this approach, children learn to ask questions about their world and make sense of their place in it.

Our programme is intentionally planned to meet the learning needs of all our children. We encourage whānau and tamariki to contribute to the planning process, giving them a sense of ownership and a voice. We value and acknowledge every person in our kindergarten as both a teacher and a learner.

We highly value the relationships we build with our whānau/families and embrace the multiculturalism and diversity of our community. We love it when family/whānau visit and share their skills, languages, and culture, enriching our programme. Additionally, we have strong connections with our local schools and regularly use the library for walks to Te Hāpua, supporting the transition to school for you and your child.

We recommend enrolling initially for at least two full days, gradually building up to five days at your child's pace. This allows our teachers to get to know your child and provides consistency in supporting their learning.
