BHU Organics Trust

Welcome to BHU Organics Trust, located at Lincoln, Farm Road in New Zealand. We are an establishment and point of interest, offering a unique university experience. Established in 2007, our college is dedicated to delivering hands-on programs in partnership with Lincoln University.

BHU College is one arm of the BHU Organics Trust, a joint venture between Lincoln University and the New Zealand Organic Movement. Our goal is to provide education, training, and research in organic, ecological, permanent, and related agricultures and horticultures.

One of our featured programs is the Certificate in Organics, available at Level 3 and Level 4. What sets our program apart is the perfect balance between practical and theoretical learning. Students have access to on-farm facilities and equipment, allowing them to gain hands-on experience while covering organic principles and practices. The program can be completed over one or two semesters, providing flexibility for our students.

Upon graduation, BHU graduates have the exciting opportunity to utilize BHU land and facilities to grow and market their own certified organic produce. This hands-on experience sets our institution apart, offering real-world application for our students.

Let us introduce you to some of our successful graduates. Katie, who grew up in Christchurch with a passion for gardening, has come full circle and now thrives in the organic agriculture field. John Chang, originally from Hong Kong, found his calling at our Organic Training College and is now making a difference in the industry. Geoff, inspired by his caretaker role, pursued a career in horticulture and is flourishing in his field. Catherine, or Cat, is one of the first graduates of our Organic Distance Programme, showcasing the flexibility and accessibility of our courses. Nam Tay, known as Tay, and his family discovered their passion for organics during a tourist visit to New Zealand in 1999 and have since found success in the industry. Finally, Heather had no background in organics or horticulture before joining our course, but she has flourished and is now making a difference in the field.

As a registered charity (CC44519), the Biological Husbandry Unit Organics Trust is dedicated to providing education, training, and research in organic, ecological, permanent, and related agricultures and horticultures. We are proud to offer the Organic Store as a retail arm of the BHU Organics Trust. In partnership with Lincoln University and the New Zealand Organic Movement, we strive to promote sustainable practices and support the organic movement.
