BHU Organics Trust and the Organic Training College

Welcome to the BHU Organics Trust and the Organic Training College, located in Lincoln, Lincoln University, New Zealand. Our institution was established in 2007 in partnership with Lincoln University to deliver hands-on programs in the field of organic agriculture.

The BHU College is one arm of the BHU Organics Trust, which is a joint venture between Lincoln University and the New Zealand Organic Movement. Our trust is dedicated to providing education, training, and research in organic, ecological, permanent, and related agricultures and horticultures.

We offer a Certificate in Organics Level 3 & Level 4 program, which is completely fee-free. This program provides a balanced mix of practical and theoretical learning, utilizing our on-farm facilities and equipment. With a hands-on focus, our students gain knowledge and skills in organic principles and practices over one or two semesters.

One unique aspect of our program is that BHU graduates have the opportunity to use our land and facilities to grow and market their own certified organic produce. This allows them to put their knowledge into practice and start their own organic farming businesses.

We are proud to introduce some of our successful students. Katie, who grew up with a family vegetable garden in Christchurch, has come full circle and now pursues her passion for organics. John, originally from Hong Kong, is one of our older students and is thriving in the Organic Training College. Geoff, inspired by his experience as a caretaker, decided to pursue a career in horticulture. Catherine, also known as Cat, is one of the first graduates of our Organic Distance Program. Tay and his family came to New Zealand as tourists and now he is thriving in our program. Heather, with no background in organics, has discovered her passion through our courses.

The BHU Organics Trust is a registered charity dedicated to providing education, training, and research in organic agriculture. We are proud to have the Organic Store as our retail arm, which is a joint venture with Lincoln University and the New Zealand Organic Movement.
