St Peter's Anglican Preschool

Welcome to St Peter's Anglican Preschool, located at 25 Yaldhurst Road in Christchurch, New Zealand. Our preschool is not just an establishment or point of interest, but a place where we support families in laying a foundation for a lifetime of learning for their children.

At St Peter's Anglican Preschool, we understand the importance of preparing your child to read and write, and we are dedicated to providing a comprehensive program that encompasses all aspects of their development. Our program is based on Biblical teachings, the principles of Te Whariki (New Zealand ECE curriculum), and our own aspirations for our students.

Since our opening in August 2019, we have created a multicultural and family-friendly environment that has formed strong connections with our community. With a license to accommodate 44 children, we provide nurturing care and education for children aged approximately 1.5 to 5 years old, with the option for children to stay until their 6th birthday.

At St Peter's Anglican Preschool, we believe that each child is a gift from God and that they are best taught well while they are young. Our learning program is designed to cater to the cognitive, physical, intellectual, language, emotional, and social needs of each child, guided by both Biblical teachings and the principles of Te Whariki.

Our preschool offers different stages of learning to suit the needs of your child. The Settling-in Stage is where your toddler will learn through curiosity, active exploration, and play, making their learning experiences meaningful. They will have the opportunity to learn alongside other children, fostering social development.

As your child progresses, they will enter the Preparing Stage, where sustained interests are encouraged and their language and social needs are supported and extended. They will continue to learn alongside their peers, building valuable skills and knowledge.

Finally, the Transition Stage marks a crucial time in your child's development as they grow into competent and confident learners. They will engage in activities that focus on communication, discovery, exploration, negotiation, and more. This stage prepares them for the challenges of reading and writing and helps them develop leadership skills.

At St Peter's Anglican Preschool, we also offer a special Teaching Program that focuses on literacy, numeracy, and reading skills, providing children with a strong foundation for starting school. Additionally, we have a special Chinese program available from 12:45 pm to 1:30 pm, where children can learn about genuine Chinese culture, customs, and language through singing, dancing, games, creative arts, and storytelling.
