Welcome to Brynley Street Nursery & Preschool, located in the beautiful city of Christchurch, New Zealand. Since opening our doors in October 2008, our mission has been to create a nurturing and educational environment for the youngest members of our community.

At Brynley Street, we understand the importance of ensuring children feel secure and valued while in our care. Our vision is to create 'The Next Best Place to Home', where children can experience a sense of sanctuary, comfort, and acceptance. This philosophy is the foundation of our service and is reflected in the relationships we build with our families.

We believe that engaging with and exploring a natural environment is vital for children's development and enjoyment. To facilitate this, we offer large, well-designed play spaces, abundant natural resources, and beautiful trees that attract bird life. Our earthy color palette reflects our rural roots, and we even have organic gardens, chickens, rabbits, and a resident cat named Franklin. Our pets are an integral part of our center family.

Our dedicated and caring teachers play a crucial role in fostering lifelong learning and building strong relationships with children and families. We carefully select our teaching team based on their passion and commitment to creating an enriching educational experience. When you step through our doors, we want you to feel like you have come home. We warmly welcome you and your family to our service.

We are licensed for 10 children under the age of 2 and have two full-time teachers who are warm, knowledgeable, and passionate about giving your baby or toddler the best start to their education. Our teaching approach is inspired by Magda Gerber's RIE philosophy, which emphasizes respect and trust in the child as an initiator, explorer, and self-learner.

In our Nursery space, your child will experience a physically safe, cognitively challenging, and emotionally nurturing environment. They will have ample time for uninterrupted play and the freedom to explore and interact with other infants and toddlers.

We celebrate and embrace the diversity of cultures within our Nursery community, and you will see this diversity woven throughout our curriculum.

Located in Hornby, Brynley Street Nursery is easily accessible from Wigram, Hei Hei, Islington, Halswell, Prebbleton, and Templeton. This makes it a fantastic option for families in the surrounding communities.

For children aged 2 to 5, we offer a beautiful space for 25 children, where our experienced and passionate team of teachers will work alongside your child to provide inspiring learning and play experiences. We use your child's interests to stretch their learning through play, recognizing that play is a child's work. Through structured and unstructured play opportunities, children learn essential skills in math, literacy, and science. Additionally, they have abundant opportunities to build friendships, exercise their imagination, explore their creativity, and develop their natural strengths.

We are proud to offer 20 Hours FREE ECE for all 3, 4, and 5-year-olds, and we can also assist you in applying for a Work & Income Subsidy, greatly reducing fees for many families.
