Prebbleton Kindergarten

Welcome to Prebbleton Kindergarten, located in the beautiful rural community of Prebbleton, New Zealand. Established in 2000, our institution began with a vision to create a nurturing and educational space for the youngest members of our community. Over the years, we have expanded to include Prebbleton Nursery in 2005 and Prebbleton Kindergarten in 2010, growing with our community every step of the way.

At Prebbleton Kindergarten, we believe it is crucial for children to feel secure and valued while in our care. Our enduring vision is to create 'The Next Best Place to Home', ensuring that children feel a sense of belonging and comfort in our center.

We understand the importance of children engaging with and exploring a natural environment, and we strive to provide ample opportunities for them to do so. Our play spaces are thoughtfully designed with plenty of natural resources, large trees that attract birdlife, and an earthy color palette that reflects our rural roots. We even have organic gardens, chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs, and budgies, making our pets an integral part of our center family.

Our dedicated teaching team plays a vital role in creating a warm and caring environment for our children. We carefully select teachers who demonstrate a passionate commitment to teaching children to be lifelong learners while fostering strong relationships with both children and families. When you walk through our doors, we want you to feel like you've come home.

At Prebbleton Kindergarten, we believe that children learn best through play. Our teachers intentionally set up our environment to support and extend the learning and interests of the children within our center. We provide extended periods of play and a variety of child-led and teacher-initiated experiences, ensuring that every child's unique needs and interests are catered to.

Our teachers view children as holistic learners with a natural sense of wonder and curiosity. We value children's voices and encourage them to develop confidence in expressing themselves. Social and emotional competence is a priority for us, and we focus on teaching respectful relationships and problem-solving skills within our learning community. Our teachers also value their own professional development and maintain collaborative relationships with families and the wider educational community.

Promoting your child's health and well-being is paramount to us. We connect children to the natural world through experiences in growing and harvesting food in our garden, as well as caring for our guinea pigs and birds. We see ourselves as guardians of the environment and model sustainable practices to children through recycling and maintaining our worm farm. We also promote healthy eating through regular baking activities and the sharing of kai (food) on a daily basis and during celebrations.

Preparing your child for school is a priority for us at Prebbleton Kindergarten. Located next door to Prebbleton Primary School, we support children's transition to school through weekly visits to the school grounds and our close relationship with the school teaching team. We also facilitate termly visits to the new entrance class, ensuring that your child is well-prepared for this exciting milestone. Our curriculum focuses on developing a broad spectrum of skills, including self-care, responsibility, building relationships, literacy and numeracy knowledge, and fine and gross motor skills.

We understand the need for flexible care and education options, which is why Prebbleton Kindergarten is open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, including school holidays. In January 2023, we will be opening our Under 2 Area, and our opening hours will be extended to accommodate this. Additionally, we offer longer hours of care at Prebbleton Preschool, which is open from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm.
