Welcome to Kidsfirst Kindergartens Wigram, located in the heart of Wigram on Springs Road in Christchurch, New Zealand. Our kindergarten is a vibrant and inviting space where children aged 2-5 years can engage in fantastic learning experiences every day.

At Kidsfirst Wigram, we prioritize place-based education, connecting our children to our local heritage, landscape, cultures, and experiences. Our recently renovated indoor learning environment provides an open and calming space for children to learn alongside their peers. With various play areas, children have the freedom to learn independently or collaborate with others. Our dedicated teachers encourage exploration and give children a sense of control, supporting them in engaging in focused, self-directed play.

Our beautiful backyard offers a range of experiences that challenge and stimulate learning. Under the shade of a large willow tree, children can explore sand and water play, engage in imaginative play, and take on physical challenges. The outdoor environment provides abundant sensory stimulation with the sounds of birds, the sight of plants and insects, the fragrance of flowers, and various textures to touch. Through frequent outdoor play, we prepare children to appreciate and learn about the natural world around them.

At Wigram, children have opportunities to experience new challenges, pursue their own learning goals, and participate in long-term projects. We value self-determination, allowing children to make choices within our environment. Our qualified and experienced teaching team fosters curiosity, imagination, and inquiry, providing opportunities for experimentation and investigation in the curriculum.

Community and connectedness are at the heart of what we do. We build and maintain warm and trusting relationships with families to support children's learning and aspirations. We actively involve parents, whānau, and aiga in our community events and cultural festivities, celebrating the richness of each child's family and culture in our program.

We believe in strengthening the connection and relationships children have within their local community. We regularly venture out into Wigram and beyond, allowing our tamariki to explore their role as caretakers (kaitiaki) of our environment. We also maintain strong links with local primary schools, ensuring a smooth transition for your child as they move on from kindergarten.

We recommend enrolling your child for at least two full days initially, gradually building up to five days at their own pace. This allows our teachers to get to know your child and provides consistency in supporting their learning.
