One of the key highlights of our institution is the UCE Makerspace, a dedicated space for creative UC students interested in active making, design, and prototyping. Here, students can bring their ideas to life and explore their entrepreneurial spirit.

For those looking to take their ideas further, the Hatchery is our year-long Incubator Programme designed to nurture social or commercial ventures. This program provides the ideal environment for students to develop their ideas and turn them into viable solutions for Waitaha Canterbury, New Zealand, and even the global stage.

We also offer the Summer Startup Programme, a 10-week intensive incubator/accelerator program that gives students the opportunity to fast-track their commercial ventures and social enterprises. This program provides invaluable support and guidance to help students launch their ideas successfully.

Additionally, we host the UCE Disrupt Challenge, a thrilling 48-hour event where participants work in teams to create innovative solutions to real-world problems posed by our partner organizations. This challenge not only allows students to showcase their creativity but also provides an excellent networking opportunity.

Our commitment to entrepreneurship and innovation is evident through the recognition received by our students. For example, our institution was awarded the Grand Prize Award at the Food, Fibre... for our development of smarter, efficient, and more sustainable pallet storage technology.
