Welcome to the North Canterbury Academy of Music, located in the heart of Rangiora on King Street. As an esteemed establishment and point of interest, we are dedicated to providing exceptional music education to students of all ages and abilities.

Enrollment for 2023 is now open, and we encourage you to secure your spot in our busy timetable. Our experienced tutors and their passion for music will inspire you to join our individual or group music lessons. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced player, our academy offers a nurturing environment to develop your love for music.

At North Canterbury Academy of Music, we believe in the power of collaboration and community. Students who play orchestral instruments are encouraged to join our Orchestra, while voice students are invited to be part of our Choir. These ensembles provide opportunities to showcase your skills and perform alongside fellow musicians.

Since its establishment in 1983, the Academy has been committed to fostering a lifelong love of music. Our dedicated team of tutors is passionate about nurturing talent and guiding students on their musical journey. From the youngest beginners to more experienced players, we strive to create a supportive and inspiring environment for all.

As an "out-of-schools" program, our lessons are conveniently scheduled from 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm, Monday to Thursday. This allows students to pursue their musical interests outside of their regular school hours.

In 2022, we had the privilege of collaborating with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra (CSO) as part of their Community Engagement project. Students studying orchestral instruments had the opportunity to participate in workshops and learn from professionals. The experience was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

In celebration of our 40th Anniversary in 2023, we are thrilled to announce that the CSO will be joining us in August for an Orchestral Weekend. This special event is open to players of all ages and abilities and promises to be a memorable celebration of the Academy's legacy. Founded in September 1983 by Julia Holcroft with just eight violin students, the North Canterbury Academy of Music has grown exponentially over the years. In 2021, we proudly served a student community of over 100 passionate musicians.
