Te Matauru Primary School opened its doors at the beginning of the 2020 school year, with a unique name gifted by Ngāi Tūāhuriri, the local Māori iwi. The name "Te Matauru" translates to "eyes to the west," symbolizing our positioning towards the Southern Ranges. This concept is reflected in our school logo and our vision: "Ekea Kā Taumata Ki Te Uru" – which means "look to the peaks of the alps and ascend to great heights."
